Take this first story from Japan for instance, about a bank worker who was paying a Canadian man to give her English lessons and got more than she bargained for:
Anyone else find it ironic he was going to teach her English by taking her to a movie with so little dialogue? Also I guess the guy must've picked up on the whole "super rape" thing and thought this was OK? Somewhere Jon Peters is smiling. It's not always the teachers who fall foul of the system, though. A bank worker we'll call Fumi paid a Canadian man to give her private English lessons. He started by suggesting they watch a movie to get used to hearing English. Fumi agreed and they began watching "Superman Returns."
"As soon as we sat down he put one of his arms around my shoulders and thrust the other one between my thighs. When I tried to move his hands away, he grabbed hold of my hand, tried to force it toward his crotch and said to me, 'I'm a Superman too, you know,' "
Fumi tells Shukan Post. "When we got out of the movie theater, he had the hide to tell me that our lesson had gone into overtime and he wanted to be paid more for it. I paid him 5,000 yen for the cost of a single hour's lesson and never contacted him again."
But the evil this film is spreading hasnt stopped there folks. Take this next story about a murder alibi from the UK where a man killed another man with a baseball bat:
He was arrested at his mother's home in Spring Rise, Kettering, Northants, but told police: "I'm telling you on my baby's life, I didn't have anything to do with it."When he was interviewed Spouse said: "All I know is he got stabbed by Stelios." Spouse said on the night of the killing he went to a pub for drinks and then watched the film Superman Returns at a friend's house. So was he watching Singerman at the time of the murder or did Singerman drive him to it?? He'd sure as heck have a motive, and in my book a good defense. I mean who WASN'T infuriated beyond rational thought after seeing it?
Hmmm but the plot thickens. The European Commission recently found high levels of lead and chromium in some of the Singerman toys, so perhaps that's what's driving people to do these things? Whatever it is, Singerman and his insidious plot to make us all into sexually harrassing, bat wielding criminals must be stopped!!!

A shame... Thank goodness we're soon to be spared from another of Singer's Super snoozers.
I've got the champaigne ready for the official word on Singer stepping out, SSS.
This is the dumbest thing i have ever read. SSS you just wasted 90 seconds of my life that i will never get back.
Good God SSS you have got to get a life. This is getting downright SAD. Are you going to be alright if the sequel happens? You are not going to off yourself are you?
Hey is that what SSS means?
SINGER'S SUPER SNOOZERS
meh, not your best post SSS. News is kinda slow right now though, so whatever.
Oh, and to the second poster, you're responsible for your own time.
To the third, considering that SSS only posts every other day I think it's safe to assume he has a life outside of this little blog.
Every other day? Heck, I'm lucky if I have the time to make one post a week.
And c'mon, it's a satire piece. It's supposed to be goofy. This is a blog, not a news site. I saw a few humorous stories involving people having seen SR and made a joke post out of it. Some of you guys need to grow a sense of humor and not scrutinize every post here like it's a Supreme Court decision. Even if you love SR, you've still got to get a good laugh out of that first story about the guy in the movie theater.
"Even if you love SR, you've still got to get a good laugh out of that first story about the guy in the movie theater."
I liked SR and i got a laugh out of it. Funny you posted a pic of Superman 3. Now that was so bad if those same people were watching it they might have gone a killing spree.
SSS, it's because these apologists are scared you'll actually make Singer crack open a comic book for once in his life.
^Oh don't misunderstand me, I usually come here just because of the fact that your commentary is typically hilarious. I'm still recovering from the laughs you gave me last year when you gave your synopsis of the Teen Choice awards.
I just honestly didn't get much of a laugh out of this one.
The Teen Choice award piece was classic, I actually reposted it on the SR IMDB boards back when you first posted (credit given to you of course) and the discussion between the Singerites and us SV fans when on for pages.
Fearless prediction:
The only place you’re going to ever see Routh again is doing a cameo on Smallville next to this generation’s real Man of Tomorrow.
I’m pretty sure if SV calls up Routh he’d do the cameo seeing that the mainstream has pretty much forgotten about him.
What's a Routh?
Honestly, you guys talk about him as if he's like a real person or something.
Funny how SR is responsible for driving men mad with gay lust!
I think a routh is a chocolate bar.
I think Routh is made of rubber and is "light on his feet"
I think Routh is greenlite
I think a routh covers your house.
Thats right its time to my ultimate intelligence. To the guy i suggest change IMDB and Wikipedia information and he responded that people like me would rip it down as soon has he posted. The reason he would rip it down is because...............
The action will Return in 2009!
Restart.
Oh and this post was somewhat humerous on two levels. First the post and also that this blog is running out of steam. Told you it would. Maybe i should start my own blog with the up coming future movie!
ReTard, it's funny because you are so fucking illiterate
"Thats right its time to my ultimate intelligence."
Priceless, just priceless
"Oh and this post was somewhat humerous on two levels."
Only two?
"Routh" is the direction your career goes when you have the onscreen presence of a tree branch.
Whenever someone impersonates a superior actor, it should be called Routhing.
Oh and this post was somewhat humerous on two levels. First the post and also that this blog is running out of steam. Told you it would. Maybe i should start my own blog with the up coming future movie!
you've been saying this blog has been running out of steam for months, and yet it still rambles on and you continue to support it by posting here.
The only thing running out of steam is Singer's and the Studios desire to pursue another crappy Superman sequel.
you know even as someone who likes SR and defends it on here constantly, I think it would have been funny to manip BR into that pic for this entry as the Superman that CR strangles..
That would have had me rolling...lol
Or have him choking Lester since he was hugely responsible for making that piece of shit Superman 3.
Hypnotically I wonder what would happen if Superman Returns came out this summer, would Singer’s Supes be able to hold his own against other big tent pole films like Spiderman 3, POTC 3, Sherk 3, Transformers, The Simpsons, Harry Potter, and the Fantastic Four plus a bunch of other low budget major studio releases in the vain of The Devil wears Prada?
Sorry if I forgot some but that’s all I could think of off the top of my head.
Mostly likely SR would have grossed the same or less than it did last summer and
Time Warner would be still very disappointed because in the end their other comic book graphic novel adaptation modestly budgeted at 65 million dollars “300” released earlier in the year would have out grossed SR with its over 200 million dollar production budget at the box office.
You're thinking too much. The reason 300 kicked return's ass so badly is that it actually didn't copy a better film nor add a stupid kid to the movie.
All of you, for your mental health, take a break from this year long commenting on some blog and go outside. There are girls with big boobs out there. And there's some sun too, but don't stay out there too long or you might get cancer.
Take a break, everyone. Remember there's a world outside your house or office and it's full of girls to see nekkid.
“The reason he would rip it down is because...............”
Answer my question you idiot. Do you honestly think that anything posted and/or removed from Wikipedia is done by ANYONE who is actually involved in the films production? The site is user updated you ignorant tool.
“you know even as someone who likes SR and defends it on here constantly, I think it would have been funny to manip BR into that pic for this entry as the Superman that CR strangles..”
Your taste in films may be horrendous, but I know a good idea when I hear it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/Sepharih/Choke2.jpg
Oh, and...well...while I was looking for screencaps to create that manip, this was sort of created by accident.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/Sepharih/BS.gif
You've actually inspired me as well. I had a lot of fun doing that GIF of Batman Kicking Routh's ass, and now I have a good idea for a follow up.
"take a break from this year long commenting on some blog and go outside."
I did that earlier today. It was fun. Right now, I want to comment on a blog.
Thank you, and goodbye.
If Singerman is good for one thing, it's good for satire. Nice work, S.S.S.
"Time Warner would be still very disappointed because in the end their other comic book graphic novel adaptation modestly budgeted at 65 million dollars “300” released earlier in the year would have out grossed SR with its over 200 million dollar production budget at the box office."
Not if it was released this summer up against that competition it wouldn't. SR mainly suffered from overly inflated expectations, yet it still made more money than Batman Begins up against much stiffer competition. Yes i know it cost more to make but it is not like BB was cheap. It cost 150 mil to make with a 100 mil marketing budget, same as SR.
LOL more inaccurate info from apologists, Superman Begins budget was more than 100 million than Batman Begins’, and don’t give me that crap about all the failed takes included in the final production budget for SR not being “fair”, this is business. All films have to include the development/preproduction cost into their final budgets. What is Time Warner supposed to do leave them as sunk cost and not try to recoup them in the end?
But still to give you some credit by your logic if Time Warner was smart the next Man of Singer film should be budgeted around roughly 100 to 150 million to make any sort of BO revenue for them because seriously Singerman obviously can’t compete in the world of Spiderman 3 or X3 and of course NOT Captain Jack.
Come on, even James Bond made more money than Superman.
Does anyone even remember that Superman Returns existed? That was the 'most forgettable' blockbuster of 2006.
You may say 2006 was the year of 007, Wolverine, Jack Sparrow or, by god, even Ben Stiller.
But Superman?
yes singer's superman is old news. And thank goodness for that. The sooner that superboy garbage is forgotten, the better. Now all the little fanboys and girls care about is that spider-man 3 movie.
isn't it sad that spider-man's out-doing the best comicbook superhero at the box office? The saddest part is that all singer had to do was read the comic and like donner craft his own interpretation. Instead he decided to do some fan film version of donner's movie. I'm glad it was recieved as the lack of originality that it was. Now they're scrambling around promising "don't worry, next time we'll read the comics and we won't rip off donner, ok?"
too late. And what about super boy? Booooooooooo just quite while you're not ahead.
Sepharih, nice work.
Look at the second gif. If SR isn't a gay angst fantasy I give up! Superman's become such a fuckin cry baby in Singer's hands. Tom Welling plays a more mature character. Christ, Routh even makes Dean Cain look 6 foot four!
Have a look at Spacey and Routh, obviously with an "excited" Singer looking on. The Village People just wished they were that gay.
Superman Returns = Supergirl, Superman III, Superman IV, and Son of the Mask.
Batman Begins = fans united
superman Returns = fans divided
The Dark Knight = Anticapated sequel
Man of Steel = Dreaded possible superboy adventure
Hey I'm an idiot apologist. X3 grossed more than batman begins. Ha ha ha. that makes it better. Durr.
On another subject, I'm not much of a smallville fan but after returns I'm seriously considering the possibility of a transfer of that show's cast to the big screen. I'll take anything over Super Kid's day out or Superman and Son adventures.
ANYTHING.
Routh is what you yell after watching Stupidman Returns
Routh is the sound a gay dog with a lisp makes...
Routh is the noise made by Tom Welling's farts
Some like it Routh. I don't.
open your routh and say aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh
"LOL more inaccurate info from apologists, Superman Begins budget was more than 100 million than Batman Begins’, and don’t give me that crap about all the failed takes included in the final production budget for SR not being “fair”, this is business. All films have to include the development/preproduction cost into their final budgets. What is Time Warner supposed to do leave them as sunk cost and not try to recoup them in the end?"
How is it the responsibility of SR to account for the failed attempts to get the franchise going again? Sure the money has to be paid and i am sure by now it has been paid but, why would WB count that against a project that has nothing to do with it. The budget for SR has been reported time and again at 204 mil. You think there has never been failed attempts to get a film going only to have a new team come on board and take over. Studios don't tack on the money they spent on the failed project to the current one because one has nothing to do with the other.
It's all the same "Superman" project. It came about from the failures of those startups. It's simple cost accounting, whats "fair" doesnt matter. They do tack any "startup" costs to it, you just cant write them off. SR has everything to do with those prior failures since it was the studios 3rd or 4th attempt at a Superman film (and a POOR one at that.)
The money has to be paid but it has nothing to do with SR budget or how much that project cost. The film itself cost 204 mil to make. WB is not sitting back measuring SR success against Superman projects that never got off the ground.
Youre right they're not measuring the film against projects it never got off the ground since from a financial standpoint THEY"RE ONE IN THE SAME SINCE IT'S THE SAME STUDIO. Singerman is just the final result of that decade long project. Come back after you've taken Accoutning 101.
"Youre right they're not measuring the film against projects it never got off the ground since from a financial standpoint THEY"RE ONE IN THE SAME SINCE IT'S THE SAME STUDIO. Singerman is just the final result of that decade long project. Come back after you've taken Accoutning 101."
You might want to brush up on it yourself since you said they can not simply write it off. Do you have any idea how much crazy shit these big faceless corporations like WB write off all the time? It was supposedly about 60 mil in developmental expenses, you honestly believe they got stuck paying that whole thing? Just SR budget was 204 mil, Singer and CO are not repsonsible for money WB pissed away on idiots like Kevin Smith.
^^^
Hey apologist! Why don’t you remove Singer’s dick from your lips and actually read up on the Singerman production budget situation before putting out blank generalizations.
According to Entertainment Weekly (Which is owned by Time Warner):
Ultimately, extra effects and the addition of a bank-robbery sequence — which gained the movie a trailer-friendly bulletproof-eyeball moment — pushed the budget over $200 million. According to the studio, Superman Returns' price tag is $204 million. Without the Australian tax credits: about $223 million.
Add in the bills for Ratner and McG, WHICH WILL COUNT AGAINST SINGER'S FILM,
and the total comes to an estimated $263 million, plus potentially another $100 million in worldwide marketing costs.

Superman Returns = Yet another superman movie in which superman is dragged, beaten, and tortured (literally and figuratively).
Routh = Getting less work than Dean Cain
"Routh = Getting less work than Dean Cain"
Hold on a minute what did Chris Reeve go on to do after Superman? Don't get me wrong i loved Reeve but he did not have a career outside of Superman.
"i loved Reeve but he did not have a career outside of Superman"
Jesus Christ, check Reeve's body of work on IMDB!
Routh has totally fallen off the radar
"Jesus Christ, check Reeve's body of work on IMDB!
Routh has totally fallen off the radar"
I say again what did he do? Reeves body of work is filled with flop after flop. The man himself is on record as saying how frustrated he was being typecast as Superman. I am not slamming Reeve he will always be the best Superman but lets not try and make his career into something it's not.
You’re free to agree or not but personally I think a Supes feature film reboot in the vain of Smallville (no tights) if budgeted around 70 to 80 million dollars would result in Time Warner actually turning a profit somewhere between the tune of superhero films like Daredevil, Ghost Rider or even the Fantastic Four, if not, the sunk cost would not be in the realm of SR if it didn’t succeed.
Looking back at the show's six seasons, Smallville has all the intangibles along the same lines of the wildly successful Spiderman films that would make it appeal to the general 12 to 25 masses both guys and gals (A very strong cash cow demo) plus it has very modern pop culture relevance and sex appeal in its lead and its supporting players that SR clearly does not to draw in folks who may not be similar with the TV series.
Looking back at the show's six seasons, it’s clear to the eye that the Clark Kent on SV is very much molded in the same vain of Peter Parker with love triangles and even making him close friends with someone whose father is also a villain.
The formula for Smallville is nearly identical to the structure of the Rami Spidey films with a few of their own touches here and there.
Yes, Lex Luthor is Harry Osborne, Lionel Luthor is Norman Osborne, Martha Kent is Aunt May and the Lana/Lois combination equals Gwen Stacey/Mary Jane respectively plus Jonathon Kent from the great beyond in an Uncle Ben role along with Chloe on the side in the vain of Betty Brant. The similarities are all there... Don't forget that Millar and Gough did write Spider-Man 2.
The bottom line is how many teeny bopper types do you think relate to “truth, justice and the American way? As opposed to an every person geek who gets superpowers at a point in his life when everything is up in the air, think puberty and adolescences. Superman has and will be their parent’s superhero.
Of course the Clark Kent on Smallville isn’t an every geek like Peter Parker but the character does go through a lot of the same sophomoric drama and tensions that will resonate and cause empathy in the context of its timeline with target audiences.
All of which if were a huge part of the film’s underlining storyline along with superpowers and a super powered villain would most likely do very well in the middle of a summer box office.
Ha sounds good Hell if they’re just going to rip off someone else’s idea at least copy one that works!
Ghost Rider is in the same boat as Superman Returns. It's not really going to make a profit. It's budgeet was 110 million dollars and it hasn't even doubled that WW. And as everyone points out when talking about SR, it needs to at least double in theatrical money to begin to turn a profit. So Ghost Rider is in the same boat.
Ghost Rider=Superman Returns
SSS= Will kill himself when SR sequel is approved.

It’s already more doubled its budget at the BO unlike SR.
Ghost Rider is a far lesser known character than Superman; why would you compare the two?
"Ghost Rider is a far lesser known character than Superman; why would you compare the two?"
For cryin out loud, take a guess.
"I say again what did he do? Reeves body of work is filled with flop after flop."
I'll type slower for you. He may not have chosen his roles too wisely, but he worked constantly until the accident.
You miss the point. Routh is invisible. Reeve, Cain & Welling have (had) ongoing careers.
In fact, comparing Reeve's career to Routh's is quite telling.
Superman kicked off the career of fledgling actor Reeve, yet seems to have killed Routh's dead.
That's nearly as embarrasing as seeing Younis over at SHP taking tourists on the Sydney Superman Returns tour! Sadly there's no photos posted showing the gay nightclubs frequented by Singer, Spacey, Routh and the incomparable Ian Roberts who is Australia's Second Favorite Queer.
Damn that is truly sad, apologists. Picking Ghost rider, some low grade marvel character, as a good comparison for superman's box office troubles.
Mean while there's this juggernaut, Spider-man, on the horizon that'll show Superman Returns how to rake in the big bucks at the box office soon enough. What's the apologist excuse for why spidey does well and All My Super Children doesn't? Oh, Spider-man's more popular... hmmm...
Or maybe it's just that the movies have been faithful to the source to a greater extent? It's possible, don't you think, apologists? Thos funny comics weren't just sitting around collecting dust when they made the movies...
I hate that excuse the apologists try to use about spidey suddenly being more popular than The king of Superheros, Superman.
Don't they realize the Spidey movies make several referrences in respect to Superman?
1. Shirt Rip
2. "You're not superman, you know..."
That should be a huge lighthouse beacon that tells these apologists who's truly the more popular hero.
Think about it. don't be an idiot and blindly ignore the truth. This is a MARVEL movie making respectful nods to DC character!
In Reeve's defense, he admits to turning down more high priority roles like The Running Man and opting for doing more artsy types of films. The offers were there for him, he just didnt want them, and he admits to being largely at fault for his own typecasting among the general public.
The difference with Routh is, he's not Juilard trained like Reeve and it shows. Routh couldnt act his way out of a wet paper sack and will be lucky if he gets an offer to appear on the next Surreal Life.
How many rouths does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Only one since that's what he'll do as a construction worker since his movie career's practically over.
My bad about the GR numbers...I thought it was out of theatres a couple of weeks ago..I guess it hit the dollar theatres.
And the only reason I brought up GR was because of the post before mine talking about GR turning a profit...I didn't realize it was still out when I made my post..My bad!
You could say the exact same thing about SR, how it died out at major theaters chains at around the 190 million dollar mark and they kept in around in the dollar chains until it crawled to the 200 million dollar mark at one of the all time slowest rates in the history of cinerama.
"I'll type slower for you. He may not have chosen his roles too wisely, but he worked constantly until the accident.
You miss the point. Routh is invisible. Reeve, Cain & Welling have (had) ongoing careers."
You can type as slow as you want you are still not making any valid points. SR came out last Summer. Routh is shooting a small role in a film right now and supposedly has another role lined up before the sequel. Reeve is a better actor than Routh absolutely he was, i loved Reeve and he deserved better roles than he got. However he did not have a big career in films. As a matter of fact he told the Salkinds during production of Superman 3 that he had no intention of ever doing a Superman 4. Only after a couple more BO dissapointments did he agree to do a 4 for Golan Globus as long as he had story input. Routh is doing fine when you compare him to other actors that have had the role of Superman. I am really laughing at you bringing Cain into this discussion. In the ten years since Lois and Clark got cancelled name me one big thing he has been a part of as an actor. Lois and Clark itself was never that big, it was only on the air 4 years.
hey Dean Cain did Ripley's Believe it or Not, and he played Scott Peterson!
Cain's probably a bad example. They wont even give him a guest-starring gig on SV b/c theyre producers thought L&C was a joke.
According to various interviews with Avi Arad, the Hulk may not be green in the upcoming film, The Incredible Hulk.
"It's a new Hulk," Arad said. "A new direction, new size, new color, new attitude. No, anything that was done before is not in this movie."
http://www.mania.com/54458.html
^^^
If Time Warner was smart they would follow the same route as The Hulk and leave Singer’s vision and Routh back in the bargain bins where it belongs along with Superman 3/4 and let Singer like Lee move on and redeem himself with films about gay life style issues.
Shouldn’t be a problem seeing that Singer is already attached to do a film about Harvey Milk after his Tom Cruise WWII film thus already delaying the start of The Man of STeel.
The Hulk is not going to be green that is a shitty idea. The film is off to a bad start already if that is true.
Brandon Routh is like the guy who the producers hired to replace Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumberer, what’s his name? That’s right, no one remembers who he is at this point or has ever seen him on screen again. Just like no one has seen Routh since SR. Although to be fair we have heard him on voiceovers for Kids WB.
Even listening to Routh in interviews the guy doesn’t even have faith that the SR series can even make it to a trilogy saying he hoped to play The Singer of Steel in at least two films.
Compare this to someone like Hugh Jackman who has pretty been much boosted to A list status after the first X-film and has become a mainstay on screen and stage; who has been Wolverine in obviously all three X films and is getting his character a spin off film. Plus Fox would love to have him back for the rumored fourth X-film if his asking price isn’t too high.
What’s the difference between Hugh Jackman and Brandon Routh you say? The list is endless but Jackman for one can actually act and has charisma while Routh is about as lifelike as a wax statue of Singerman in some metropolitan tourist trap.
"What’s the difference between Hugh Jackman and Brandon Routh you say? The list is endless but Jackman for one can actually act and has charisma while Routh is about as lifelike as a wax statue of Singerman in some metropolitan tourist trap."
This is one dumb ass comparison right here. What the fuck does Hugh Jackman have to do with Routh or Superman. As far as others who have played Superman, Routh is doing just fine. As i pointed out earlier, did Reeve have a big career in films? NO. Has Welling so far? NO. Has Dean Cain? Shit NO. Routh is filming a small role right now with supposedly another one on the way before the sequel starts filming. SR just came out last Summer he has not been out of work for 3 years or something crazy like that.
To the small thinking dumbfuck above, the comparison between Jackman and Routh is of both having portrayed superheros on the sliver screen and as a result having it catapult them to star status. Of course the statement only applies to Jackman and not to Routh.
As far as the career of all the men who have donned the red cape, they can all be classified as careers in mediocrity there after. The most successful of the bunch being Reeve (And I don’t mean on film) only because of his accident and the way he lived his life after through his pursuit of a medical breakthrough for his injury.
The Superman cruse lives on, go ask Bosworth, she faults it for her breaking up with Bloom.
The hulk is indeed going to be green. Avi Arad cleared that up the next day...He's going to be a different shade of green, but he is NOT going to be gray.
I don't think anyone is actually arguing that Routh is on Reeve's or Jackman's level. He's not...And I think even he would agree with you.
Spacey's still a great actor though. He just got cajoled into doing a hackman impression by Singer, that bastard.
Singerman Stalks = Superman V: The Last Nail in the Coffin
"As far as the career of all the men who have donned the red cape, they can all be classified as careers in mediocrity there after."
Holy shit the man actually hit the fucking nail on the head. So i never have to hear anymore than Routh is expected to go on to this great stardom since NOBODY else did it who has worn the Superman suit. Reeve to me is the best of all of them including Jackman, yet he was unfairly typecast and never achieved the fame he should have as an actor.
Reeve to me is the best of all of them including Jackman
LOL Hugh Jackman never wore the Superman suit! Although beforehand there were rumors that Singer had recruited him to play PA Kent in flashback scenes.
"LOL Hugh Jackman never wore the Superman suit! Although beforehand there were rumors that Singer had recruited him to play PA Kent in flashback scenes."
I never said he did so what the fuck are you laughing at? I was responding to an earlier post where for some dumb ass reason Jackman was compared to Routh. BR is doing just fine compared to others that have played the Superman role. Jackman is a great actor who has nothing to do with Superman or Routh.

BIG FUCKING DEAL. This is the problem with you fanboys. You think because a character is so BIG in the comics than he should automatically be huge in the movies. Batman is so much more popular than Spiderman in the comics and the only movie adjusted for inflation that can be compared to what Spiderman has done is Burton's Batman in 1989. The way the GEN public recieves a comic book hero is not the same as fanboys. BO data clearly backs that up.
Yes Superman is a big fucking deal as you so aptly put it. And You know damn well Superman's more well known than spider-man ever will be, aplogist. Your revisionistic attempts at making superman seem like this little known, unpopular booster gold character, will NEVER convince anyone with a working brain.
there's another referrence to Superman in the spidey films that I forgot to mention.
3. UP UP AND AWAY, WEB!
Yeah have you read the Spidey 3 pre reviews its being ass reemed. Sorry Returns got 78% Rottem Tomatoes. Spiderman will be buried under Superman Returns ticket sales. This is why the man of steel.....
Will return in 2009!

Trust me even returns didnt have a DANCE NUMBER!!!!!SPIDER 3 WILL BLOW!!!!
Blow the roof of the box office?
"Yes Superman is a big fucking deal as you so aptly put it. And You know damn well Superman's more well known than spider-man ever will be, aplogist."
You did not respond to my post you just danced around it. I said Superman is huge in the comics as is Batman yet as far as the public is concerned in the movies they are not as important as Spiderman. The BO numbers don't lie on that one. The orignal Superman in 1978 and Batman in 89 when adjusted for inflation have made Spiderman money no other Batman or Superman movie has done that so like i said, there is a difference between how fanboys view a comic hero and the public.
SSS,I usually agree with a lot of the things you say about the film, but I have to admit that there are times, like this post, where it seems like you are go beyond what is reasonable. You need to keep it strickly about the movie, not what unreasonable people do in regards to it. Singer has nothing to do with that stuff, even if SR is mentioned or related.
^ it's supposed to be humorous you dolt. It's not his literal opinion that SR made these people commit crimes. Go buy a dictionary and look up the word "satire." Blogs do stuff like this all the time.
BR is doing just fine compared to others that have played the Superman role.

So cold but true.
"Spiderman will be buried under Superman Returns ticket sales. This is why the man of steel.....
Will return in 2009!
Retard"
Priceless. We don't have to wait long for CONFIRMATION that Retard is exactly that, a retard.
Joel1245 you are a jackass. Lighten up.
Returns can be held responsible for people doing bad things though. Look at Steve Younis running a tour of the locations used in Sydney Australia for Singerman Returns.
Just fuckin pitiful
"You did not respond to my post you just danced around it. I said Superman is huge in the comics as is Batman yet as far as the public is concerned in the movies they are not as important as Spiderman. The BO numbers don't lie on that one. The orignal Superman in 1978 and Batman in 89 when adjusted for inflation have made Spiderman money no other Batman or Superman movie has done that so like i said, there is a difference between how fanboys view a comic hero and the public."
Wow you give the public credibility in regards to quality entertainment choices?
Apologist, I don't care how popular superman or spider-man or batman or any comic character is in the comics and neither do any of the joe regular public. They care about mainstream popularity, what their friends say, what's in the news papers, what's on the tv, what the kids are into. And if you look at history, superman's popularity spans prettymuch every living generation to world wide while spiderman's primarily the figure head of the marvel comics brand, but not a symbol of Americana that Superman has long been. So why are you here wasting time trying to play down superman's long standing fame compared to spiderman's recent very young popularity that'll soon dissapear into the air like a passing fart.
Heck Pokemon's more popular than superman by your reasoning.

Okay, apparently whoever doesn't share your view is a jackass. You need to be a little more critical of the things you read. Just because people disagree with you doesn't make them a jackass. Stop being so combative. It's just a movie. Who's taking it seriously?
I never said people didn't do stupid thing due to the movie, or any movie for that matter, but Singer can only be responsible for so much. Yes, I agree that the movie sucked and SSS makes a lot of good points on here, but I have to say that I feel he's stretching it a bit for this one.
^ And I'd have to say your a jackass for not getting that it's a joke

Well, Spiderman is just more popular right now. As is every Marvel superhero. This isn't indicative of much, but my brother is 20 yrs old and didn't want to see SR because "Superman sucks, he's boring...Xmen are cooler."
Yes Superman has been more popular and with people who grew up on CR's movie's he still is. But today's kids (the ones that really spend the money) he's just not as popular. That being said...If they had done what they seem to be planning on doing for the sequel with Returns? It would have made more money. But Superman is behind the 8 ball with today's youth.
Heck Pokemon's more popular than superman by your reasoning.
With today's kids? Yep. Pokemon is more popular. It sucks, but it's the truth.
Good grief, bet the better man, Joe. Don't stoop to the level of an antagonizer.

It's rather futile to argue anything on the internet really but what the hell...
Pokemon, I pointed out because it was a passing fad, while Superman is a part of American Culture. As donner put it, he's like apple pie. YOU DON'T FUCK WITH APPLE PIE.
That's all my point has been since the start. you cannot EVER put superman down on the level of lesser popular heros since History will never permit it.
oh crap, scratch that last comment to you joel. I missread

Ahhhhh...Now I get what you were saying.
...you cannot EVER put superman down on the level of lesser popular heros since History will never permit it.
Yeah that’s what the Romans thought too until thier empire was taken down.
WORST...ANALOGY....EVER!

You are still not addressing this issue at all asshole. There is a difference between someone real or fictional being well known and the public wanting to see a movie about them. How many people you think walking the streets have never heard of Muhammad Ali? How did his movie do a few years ago starring a huge star in Will Smith, at the BO? It bombed BADLY. Spiderman is considered to be a hipper more today HERO, than Superman or Batman that is just the way it is. The BO numbers back me up no matter how much whining you do about Superman's popularity.
You apologist sound like a bunch of elderly men in retirement homes yearning for the day of old when the image or sound of Superman would cause excitement among the masses.
Sorry to break it to you but Singerman is now the old fart pasting in the wind, but at least you grandpas can still have your nostalgia while up and coming heroes like Spiderman and Wolverine define a new generation.
One in which America is seen as a flawed and fucked up nation but hopefully in the end still comes out on the side of right.
Sorry the days of being a goody two shoes boy scout are over.
Superman Returns
WORST...Homage ....EVER!
and 20 years too late1 g

Spiderman is a goody goody for the most part as well. He is just a fresher hero that's movies have maintained their quality over the years.
Superman as a character has been limping along for years, then Singer came along and put the final damaging touches to him.
No Superman has not been limping along he is not as big as he was 20 years ago but that goes in cycles. Spiderman will be there at some point it is only a matter of time.
Yeah when Spiderman gets to the point where like Supes he’s been limping around for 20 something years, instead of redefining him for a new generation on the big screen (like Nolon did with Batman) I hope someone comes along and does a homage to the first Spidey film 20 years after the fact.
