I'm a Marvel... and I'm a DC

Just a quick post here, to bring to your attention quite possibly one of the funniest video spoofs we've seen in a long time. It's a series of videos that spoof those popular Mac and PC commercials where they portray the PC as being stiff and nerdy while the Mac is hip and versatile. They're a pretty witty critique of the current state of affairs with the Marvel and DC Comics film franchises, and have some especially amusing criticisms of Singerman. Awesome work by ItsJustSomeRandomGuy.

There's actually 3 other videos in the series, and all are great. Check them out here:

Part 1
Part 3
Part 4

I'll be back with some more news next week.

Those were funny. See even i can find comedy in it. It would be funnier to see Superman kick Spiderman'a ass. Even though I think this site should support the Returns sequel. All this site does is support hate and conspiracy theories. I have yet to see one exec saying there is no superman returns sequal.....that means that SSS and AP....

Will kill themselves when man of steel flies in 2009!

That sounds incredibly funny and ironic coming from a moron who supports Singer and SR.

Though I dont quite understand why SSS has to create his own videos? These were damn funny

"I think it's being used to show that this isnt the only place on the Net where people find Singerman to be a P.O.S."

Youtube is a poor example to be showing that. SSS was talking about the great reaction that mock Superman trailer got using Smallville clips in his last post as a means of slamming SR. When the SR trailers came out if you went to youtube they got huge reactions mostly positive from fans. Just another example of him lamely attempting to spin shit.

Uh no...That's not true. For it to be the same thing as you suggest he would have to be going to another site and bitching about what you guys are saying. Coming onto the actual site and arguing isn't the same as what you or whoever posted that IMBD thing said.

Obviously you can't take the fact that not everyone hated this film because why else would you be so fired up over someone having nice things to say about it. I still laugh at people using the word apologist in this BLOG when they themselves are being apologists. Nobody on this blog ever bought a dictionary i guess.

And if you love The Queer of Steel what the fuck are you doing on a "Singer's Superman Sucks" blog anyways shouldn't you be giving Singer a virtual blowjob on bluetights or something?

Turning Jason into Bizzaro? With Singer and Peters on hand that’s probably not a bad guess at the direction of the next film. Since Singer is so keen on stealing others ideas he’ll probably set the final fight in a junk yard. I can picture it now.

It’ll also probably be some metaphor for Singer’s father leaving him and him putting some hurt on his pops.

After this weekend when Spiderman 3 sets the box office on fire, I’m sure Time Warner will ask themselves how they can get that sort of excitement and love towards their keystone hero from the general public. The conclusion will be simple, let go of Singer and his outdated bastardized version of Superman or suffer another commercially unsuccessful outing at the BO.

Singer’s Superman Returns is the equivalent of Schumacher’s Batman Forever.

Oh wait that comparison isn’t fair to Time Warner because they actually made a profit from BF in its theater run when they green lit another Schumacher Batman film.

I can’t wait for another Supes film under Singer, cause most likely it will suffer from the Schumacher effect where the audience will still have the sour taste of the first film in their mouths and not even look twice at Singer’s second helping of the Queer of Steel and and Superman will officially have stratified his place among Daredevil, The Spirit of Vengeance, and Hellboy, welcome to the C-lists Supes

It really wasn't a bad action popcorn movie like Pirates, it's just that that's all it was. An action popcorn movie. It's just a Dumb fun movie when I expect a lot more from the Super hero genre today.

That said, I will be very surprised if it doesn't do fairly consistent business for the next week or so. Dumb or not, it's still a fun film, and the kids are probably going to eat it up. Even that god awful dance number they ripped from the Mask.

Spidey 3 kicks the shit out of every comic book movie around in terms of BO but this latest entry is really not up to snuff.

Anonymous said...

Spiderman again has all of the next week to itself; guess other studios respect this superhero enough not to get into his warpath unlike the studio backing Singerman, which was so scared of its competition that WB had to push its release date forward.

Bottom line, the death of Singerman was due to The Devil Wears Prada and Pirates: Dead Man’s Chest.

A small minority may bitch about Spiderman but people are actually going to see it unlike Superman which attached a non-must see approach from the populace and came crashing to earth soon after with the poor word of mouth from those who actually saw it it’s first week out.

Anonymous said...

If Spidey 3 makes as much as the first 2 than these films have become like Star Wars because Episode 1 and 2 sucked shit and they both made a ton of money. Spidey 3 BO aside sucked compared to the first 2. SR, BB, X2 and dare i say it maybe even X3 are all better than Spidey 3.

anyone else find it odd that you're saying that to a bunch of people who post anonymously as if you somehow know who they are?
The reason why there is bithcing on all other sites about SR (besides the Singer suck-off site known as BT and SMHP to a lesser extent) is because the movie sucks. There's not this roving band of a few SR haters that travel the interwebs to spread their dislike of the film. There are people on all sites dislike this crapfest. Travel to SHH, IMdB, DC.com theyre all there. I've never once posted on any of those forums, yet everytime I lurk, you see them calling out Singer and SR on the same shit that they get called out on here and every other media site with a brain (that doesnt include IESB).

Anonymous said...

I don't get why anyone here would boast about Spidey 3's BO as a means of slamming SR. What fucking comic movie does Spiderman none beat the piss out of at the BO. It is going to crush BB, so that makes it a better film as well. Not even close. Both BB and SR are getting sequels so obviously they were successful enough. Spidey 3 is a gigantic notch below the first 2. Honestly it is like Superman 3 compared to STM and Superman 2.

voice_of_reason said...

^ the reason why Spider-man gets cited as an example is because he's the Superman of Marvel comics. He's their A #1 big gun, like Superman is for DC. They're the 2 heavy hitters.
The Spider-man films, atleast the first 2 since I havent yet seen the 3rd, worked well because they bring in every aspect that Singerman failed at.
The Spider-man films are based in the comics yet they're not afraid to do their own spin on them. They have a director who respects and has actually read the source material enough, and knows why its worked so well for many decades. They've got a cast who's charismatic and for the most part can actually emote and speak dialogue. They also havent unnecessarily attached things to a character in an effort to humanize him, when his very nature makes him essentially human and relatable. These are all areas where Singer and Singerman failed miserably, and the proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

Comparing Batman and Singerman in terms of raw numbers is not the right economic logic considering that The Man of Queer’s production budget was over 100 million dollars more than that of Begins and both ended making about the same amount with SR having a slight edge but not even close enough to cover its own spread which required it make Spiderman like money.

In other words Batman made a profit for Time Warner while SR ended up in sunk cost for the company.

What the hell are you talking about? I post on one other Superman site. That is Superman Homepage. And since everyone has screennames we call them by their screenname when referring to what they are saying. I don't get your point.

And I'm sorry, but I can guarantee you that the guy that is posting anonymously and attacking me, has a screenname on SHP and probably posts there. He knew who I was before I ever started talking to him. And I highly doubt that the haters that come on here are only bashing the movie on this site.

Of course I have no idea who anybody really is, but I bet you that you guys are posting on other sites about how much you hate SR.

It's not like you guys to just stick to one place. It's not like online fans to stick to just one place. I post here and SHP. I also post at Televisionwithoutpity, but that's mostly about Smallville. I've never posted at Bluetights, nor IMBD. I haven't posted about SR at Kryptonsite since September, and that was only in the box office thread when everyone was doing the 200 million dollar watch.

The reason I come here is not to constantly attack this site. I come here, because I do like to read others point of view, and even though I disagree with SSS, he does find some of the funniest shit out there concerning SR.

I liked the movie alot...If they suddenly decided not to do the sequel I would be bummed, but I would get over it pretty quickly. And I would wait patiently for the next version of Superman.

SR budget was about 50 mil more than BB and it made 20 mil more at the BO than BB. Don't give me this shit about failed projects that had nothing to do with SR. It all goes under the same project because it is the same studio but you think WB is sitting around blaming SR for Tim Burton and Nic Cage not doing a Superman movie. The point is Spiderman crushes every comic movie at the BO. Don't you dare give me BB as an example of great success and trash SR compared to Spiderman when Spiderman beats the shit out of both those movies in every way at the BO.

Part of any Superman movie's problem is the legacy of Chris Reeve. I mean he was the MAN both in the films and in life. You can't replce him he was too good. I know so many people that said they did not want to see SR because they could not imagine seeing a Superman movie without Chris as Superman.

He's a Singer apologist first and foremost. Negative news re Returns is not posted, rather a rose colored glasses view of Superman Returns.

What "we" are giving back is giving support to the real concept of Superman, not supporting the dreadful Singer version. Oh and running a tour of the locations in Sydney (!!) is worth ridicule too.

He supports every version of Superman just look at his site. From the comics to the Chris Reeve films to Smallville. Read his review of SR he liked it but said flat out it has it's problems. I know almost nothing about Younis, have not read his review, have never been to whatever website it is that he maintains, and have never flamed him once. I also believe, very strongly, that any film/comic/etc. is a subjective experience. Now that I’ve said that;
He’s an idiot and a tool if he actually supports “all things Superman” as you say. If you support EVERYTHING that your favorite fictional character is involved in you need to develop an opinion.
Would he have been in support of this train wreck:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/Sepharih/Supesblue.jpg

“i saw it yesterday and thought it was really dissapointing as did most of the people that saw it in the theatre. We'll see how the legs on this one hold up.”

I’m standing by what I said. Consistently good business until Pirates and/or Shrek show up. It sucked, but I’m sure the kids are going to eat it up.

Anonymous said...

You say that Spiderman 3 will suffer once Pirates lands but by this same logic won’t Pirates suffer when Sherk 3 hits the screens? Also add in Bay’s Transformers, which might be a hit or flop at this point, its anybody’s guess sometime after Sherk and then Harry Potter down the line and that no one is going to be happy with their final grosses.

If Spiderman’s opening numbers are an early indication, this is the summer the box office has been waiting for. Yes fanboys may complain loudly online but the majority of the MTV generation (12 to 25 year olds both guys and gals) is loving everything about Spiderman (Action, EMO Pete, love triangles ECT) loved everything about Pirates, and don’t even get started on the critical critique of all the burp and fart jokes in the Sherk films that’ll appeal to the little kiddes.

Someone up their hit the nail on the coffin when they said that certain films are critic proof, the big three this summer are proof positive of that. It may be fun to complain and be hypercritical of films but just know that the majority of Spdiey 3’s 158 million dollar weekend gross and the bulk of Pirates gonzo gross last summer isn’t going to be doing that. Rather they’ll be in school hallways or at the mall all in a buzz about a particular cool scene in the film or how much of a hottie one of the leads in the film is.

Sepharih said...

“You say that Spiderman 3 will suffer once Pirates lands but by this same logic won’t Pirates suffer when Sherk 3 hits the screens?”

No, since Pirates is being released after Shrek.
I do understand what you’re saying though, and the answer is yes. I think you apparently misread my post, and even missed my previous one.
My point was that the only thing which is going to slow this monster down is a monster which is just as big or bigger, and at this point, that’s probably all it can do. Slow it down. In fact, I agree with everything you continue to state in your post.
I’m not denying the films a major hit. In fact; quite the opposite. I’m saying it’s looking forward to at least another two weeks of great business. All I’m saying is that it’s axiomatic that Pirates and Shrek are going to cause a note worthy drop in Spidey’s onslaught. The significance of that drop remains to be seen.
I also said that it’s not a horrible film, but that it’s just a dumb action film. It’s fun; it’s just not particularly smart or well structured. Like I said, no matter what any of the Spidey fans may say, the kiddies are going to eat it up.

Also, no one probably cares, but I gave my full review here on Ebaumsworld a little while ago. Just if anyone is interested:

Who cares about Younis. What is depressing is seeing overthere piccys of Brandon Routh(who?) attending a UK Comic collectors convention where he's selling his autograph.

Wow, what a career! I guess Tom Welling is too busy playing the Man Of Steel to take the time to attend.

I see Routh even signed a photo of Erica Durance with "Now THAT"S Lois!!"

Anonymous said...

Sepharih it’s nice to be able to have a post conversation with something on this blog and not be called some sort of hate name. Thanks for being civil.

Anonymous said...

The difference between Routh and Welling is that Welling does not want to be linked to the Supes character after Smallville while Routh pretty much has realized that the only way he’ll ever make another appearance on The Tonight Show is if Singerman flies again.

Anonymous said...

With Smallville looking to run 8 seasons now, I'd say it's too late for Welling not to be linked to Superman post Smallville. In fact I'd say by now Welling must've clocked up more screen hours as the Man Of Steel than anyone else. There would be a huge demographic that would look at a photo of Routh (who?)in civvys and think "That's not the guy from Smallville"

If Routh(who?)didn't need the money, turning up at a convention to flog off your own autograph puts you in the same celebrity category as ex Doctor Who assistants...Acting career? What acting career?

Anonymous said...

I sorta feel sorry for Routh(who?) though when thinking about him trying to keep the wolf from the door by hawking his John Hancocks. It is rumoured that his wage for Singerman Returns wasn't particularly lucrative despite the obvious long hours and hard physical work he had to put in, AND being made to look a fool by wearing the most unflattering and silly looking costume this side of childrens' TV.

Hardly the breakthrough role he would have been told it would be if the following year he's reduced to the autograph circuit and the odd cartoon voiceover.

If I was Routh(who?), I'd sue Singer for failing to deliver!!

Anonymous said...

...and one more thing before I go.......I see Welling did the glasses wearing, klutzy Clark Kent persona the other night, and did it very well I thought.

The concept is so dated though that tellingly it was set in a dream "retro" sequence. A nice fun homage nonetheless, it did highlight how out of touch the Singerman ideology was for 2006

"SUPERMAN RETURNS WAS A MUCH BETTER MOVIE THEN SPIDERMAN 3!"

I loved Spidey 1 and 2 but there are a lot of comic movies that are better than Spidey 3. Sr, BB both X-Men and X2, i really did not think Spidey 3 was much better than X3. These films are like the SW prequels these days. Quality almost does not matter at the BO.

Yep. Last weeks episode of smallville proves Welling would be brilliant if the show decided to become this generations live action superman.

Nice little Jab at Returns too by making Smallville go retro to show how corny it is to do that.

Why should the studio even take a chance and like SR bore the crowd to sleep when the production budget is past the 200 million dollar mark. It’s just a smart business move (X3, Pirates, Spiderman 3) to load the film with as much crazy make scenes, explosions, combat, and kicks to the nuts as possible.

Maybe so but that is not a good film. X3 sucked as did Spidey 3 so while the studio may be happy with their bottom line, an action packed Superman movie with a shitty story is not going to please most Superman fans anymore than SR did.

SR’s word of mouth from the general public is what really killed it after the hype settled and as the weeks went by it couldn’t even hold up against the 35 million dollar budgeted way lessed hyped “The Devil wears Prada” that was playing on way less screens than SR.

Anonymous said...

All the critics before hand were buzzing SR like crazy! One major one even called it the champagne of superhero films.

If anything in actuality Singerman was more of a warning shot glass to other hero films to not follow in its flavor or they might end up with huge sunk cost hangovers when its all said and done.

Superman Returns=Batman Forever
The Man of Steel=Batman and Robin
Bryan Singer= Joel Schumacher

The trilogy ends summer 09.

Check out the new superhero love interest poll on Entertainment Weekly site

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/1,,20037380_20037382_20038105,00.html

Bosworth’s disapproval rating is at like 62 percent it’s the lowest of all the superhero love interests even lower than that of Katie Homes as RACHEL DAWES, and we all know what happened there!

Although a simple recast in one part isn’t going to do anything to solve all of SR’s glaring appeal problems.

Ok even in this site it looks like in the last 2 years.

Superman Returns > Spiderman 3, Ghost Rider, X3, F4

If this is the case then Superman Returns must be a pretty good movie or even fair to most of the losers at this site.

So I think it is time for SSS/AP to admit defeat and work toward....

The sequel in 2009!

Restart

If this site starts supporting Singer fromt the Marvel attrocities above we can have a kick ass sequel

^nice logic there genius.

"SR is better than Gigli and Maid in Manhattan too, so it must be good."

Nothing like setting high standards for the Man of Steel.

BTW SR ISNT better than Spidey 3. Not even close. Even if the 3rd film is a letdown from the first 2 it's still better than SR on credibility alone. That's a big part of the reason it made 97% of SR's TOTAL B.O. in it's first THREE DAYS in theaters.

Go home and get your shinebox.

Oh really what does that say for BB that it made more than it's BO total in just 3 days. I guess Spidey 3 is so much better than BB right. Spidey 1 and 2 were great and 3 was a joke. SR, BB, X-Men and X2 are all way better. X3 and Spidey 3 are in the same category in terms of quality.

Good to see people supporting Superman on this page again. Come on guys speak with your dollar. Spidey 3 sucks hard dick come over to Returns side and you can see Singer improve on the original.

In terms of quality, the writing and drama in a typical episode of Smallville is better then what SR featured.

Singer tried so badly to turn Superman into a SV Clark Kent/Peter Parker without any of the fairness compassion and empathy that both the Smallville and Spiderman series do so well and failed miserably thus creating a super powered home wreaker and stalker.

What Singerman did outside of Lois’ home is the equaling of a regular Joe hiding in the bushes with a set of binoculars.

The title of Singer’s film should have been “My Super EX-Boyfriend Returns” cause it sure as Hell wasn’t no SUPERMAN film.

That is a big key and it is something i have brought up here before is that once the sequel gets going people here should really start getting behind it. If you are a Superman fan first and foremost you want to see a great Superman film. It is fine to say you have no faith in Singer making a great sequel but another to actually be rooting for it to be a poor Superman film. You guys hated SR fine but if the sequel gets the greenlight as Superman fans you should change gears a bit.

voice_of_reason said...

why? what reason do any of us have to have faith with Singer on a 2nd go around? Other than blind faith? Most of the first film's issues are inherent in it's continuity and it's overall plot that will have to carry into a second film. It's not as simple as recasting an actress and changing the costume. A lot of the bad shit about this film HAS to carry over into a sequel, and if it didnt and they just ignored it, like say the Kid, it would be an even bigger joke becuase it would be ignoring its own shitty continuity.
I dont want to see another bad Superman film, I want to see a good Superman film, but it's not happening with this current group. They had almost limitless resources and possibilities on the 1st go around, and they shit the bed. Why would I believe they can do better with less resources and a bad continuity to work off of?
To blindly get behind the same group that burned us last time just because they call it "Superman" would be foolish.

No calling yourself a Superman fan and rooting for a Superman movie to be bad is foolish. I am old enough to have seen the original Superman movies in theatres. I had a dreaded feeling about Superman 3 knowing that it was the first one all run by the Salkinds with Lester directing. The moment they cast Pryor i had a feeling of impending doom about it. Yes the movie sucked but when i sat down in that theatre i was hoping for another great Superman movie. I am saying it is fine to have no faith in Singer but not fine to call yourself a Superman fan and be rooting for the next film to be shitty or be a failure.

Ok everybody just chill. Take five minutes.

Superman in the Donner continuity with Singer's touch ups IE SUPERKID just doesn’t fly with today’s youth; it’s going to be really bad for Superman if the new action packed Fantastic Four film out grosses or matches SR this summer.

That would mean that even Marvel’s C list heroes have more pop appeal than Supes.

Anonymous said...

yeah saddling superman with a kid plus using the donner movies as backstory was a dumb mistake. Singer's fanboy side got the best of him.

Jessica Alba in blue spandex equals hot and temping while Brandon Routh in blue spandex reeks ambiguously gay vibes.

Besides the kid, what has to carry over that is soooo bad and can't be fixed? Honestly....And don't give me the peeping Superman thing, because as long as he doesn't do it again it can be forgotten. The number one issue with fanboys regarding this movie is the kid. That's why so many of you can't see the sequel fixing what happened in the first.

Now, this is something that really can't be fixed, but they can confront some of your issues like Supes being a deadbeat dad. Or why hasn't he told Lois his secret?

As hard as it is going to be to fix it believably it can be done. This isn't on the level of Batman and Robin where everything was just totally torn to shreds.

I was a fan of SR...But even I acknowledge the problems that you guys do. The only difference is I am willing to give them a chance to fix it. If they don't do it in the second film then I will be right here with you guys. Let's see if they learned anything first. Singer has a good track record concerning his superhero sequels.

Finally..Let's be honest here. The general public isn't really going to care about the kid. They just want to see Superman kick ass and take names. Give the kids this and the sequel makes more money.

"No calling yourself a Superman fan and rooting for a Superman movie to be bad is foolish."

UN-FUCKING-BELIEVEABLE!
People like you gave us Superman 3,4 and Superman Returns. Anyone with a brain knows how the sequel to this lackluster piece of shit will look like. Too bad you lost yours over the years. SR did $150 mill within the first week (thanks to the marketing), the rest was a LOOOOOONG and humiliating 4 months "run" to end up with barely what the restart of the obliterated Batman franchise did, in 3 months, even without the Supes marketing behind it!
And don't even start on the worldwide numbers. The movie made several sacks of small money from tiny countries you can't even spell the name from (like Bush and his "big worldwide coalition"), while it totally BOMBED in Europe! Even Batman had better legs and made more there. Making $20 mill more 'cause you add several small countries to the list to plug the holes the big ones left you with isn't a sign for success!

So, I'm foolish cause I want Superman to be treated like he deserves?
I'm foolish cause I don't want Superman to end up like Batman in the 90s: humiliated and obliterated in the public's eyes?

PLEASE! CALL ME FOOLISH!

Anonymous said...

Yeah SR bombed in the UK, Superman Returns opened the week after Pirates and it still couldn’t even knock off Pirates for one week with its opening hype. Guess all the so called bad word of mouth from Dead Man’s Chest wasn’t enough to discourage people from seeing SR instead when it premiered.

Notice that the greater the financial success of Spiderman 3, the more desperate the Singer apologists become?

Anonymous said...

What the apologists like swright and Retard (yes, I know they're the same person)forget is that it's not a handful of people over on Bluetights or Younis' brainwashed members who matter, it's the general public. How do you expect the public to embrace a sequel to a film they weren't too keen on in the first place DESPITE pretty good reviews on it's release. The public were left underwhelmed and I reckon Warners would be only too aware that they're going to have a HUGE problem with trying to spin a Singer sequel to a largely disinterested public.

Besides, who wants to pay good money to see Routh's(who?) emo take on Superman when you can see the Man Of Steel free at home on Smallville every week?

Anonymous said...

"I am saying it is fine to have no faith in Singer but not fine to call yourself a Superman fan and be rooting for the next film to be shitty or be a failure."

Typical nonsense logic.

The next Superman film will have less of a chance of being shitty or a failure if Singer is removed and his vision forgotten. People here like swright don't have such high standards and would be happy for Singer to be reassigned

That is not what he is saying at all. He is saying open up your mind like that much. Saying you are going to hate something 2 plus years before it comes out is ridiculous. If you are a Superman fan you will root for a great movie. Standing around whining that you hate Singer and he won't give you a good sequel is stupid. Root for the sequel to be good. I did not love or hate the film, i thought it was just ok but you bet your ass i am pulling for Singer to make a good sequel because i am Superman fan first not a Singer hater first.

What don't you get about claiming to be a Superman fan and rooting for Singer's next Superman movie to be bad. How many Star Wars fans do you know that after hating Episode 1 and 2 were rooting for 3 to suck wiseass?

Don't waste your time trying to rationlize with these people. SSS and his band of cronies have been bashing Singer and SR for so long that even if they loved the sequel they would lie about it just to avoid looking foolish.

First:
Spider-man 3 = A complex, inane, mess.

Superman Returns = A BORING complex, inane, mess.

Spider-man 3 did suck, but at least it was ultimately dumb fun.

Moving on,

"Don't waste your time trying to rationlize with these people. SSS and his band of cronies have been bashing Singer and SR for so long that even if they loved the sequel they would lie about it just to avoid looking foolish."

Wrong, you pretentious little twat.

By that logic I'd have to hate one particular writer forever, simply because he had one bad run on the comics.

Superman Returns 2 could be awesome. It could even be the greatest Super Hero film ever made.
Fantastic 4: ROTSS could also be the greatest Superhero film ever made. Now what are the chances of that happening?
See my point?

I made a post about this subject many moons ago, and said roughly the same thing.

I'm in no way rooting for the next Superman installment to suck, but it's not off to a good start. There's so much BS that BS (see what I did there?) has to correct for it to work that I sincerely doubt he's going to be able too.

For starters, he would have to fundamentally redefine how he even views the Superman character to begin with.

I'll hope the sequel is good, but I have absolutely no faith in BS to do it, and even if he did turn the franchise around with the sequel I'll always give him shit for THIS travesty.

X3, Spiderman 3 and I’m guessing Pirates 3 are all films in the vain of Episode 3. You see a trend here?

When it comes to concluding chapters or bookends the ticket buying public wants wall to wall action and a final blowout while the studio wants to make damn sure it can profit and recoup its 200 million plus investment.

Nobody is rooting for Singer's next Superman film to be bad. We just don't want him to have anything to do with it moron.

Again, what part of NOT WANTING SINGER INVOLVED don't you get retard?

What part of he is in all likelihood going to be involved do you not understand? So then you are saying if he gets the greenlight you are going to support him and the movie at least until you actually see it.

voice_of_reason said...

no. why would he have to? We already KNOW what Singer's continuity is about and it's bad.

Someone earlier cited the first 2 SW films as examples. That's a completely different story since the problems with the first two new SW films werent inherent in the continuity, they were character issues (Jar Jar) or acting issues (whiney Anakin). They could be glossed over as long as you finally synced up the new trilogy with the original. (although they did manage to shit that up too in places)
Singerman isnt syncing up with any pre-exisitng continuity that everyone knows is good. The only continuity is has is the one it established in the first film that was utter crap. There's no cool end point in sight like the SW films had with the creation of Vader, birth of the twins, etc. The only thing anyone is even midly curious in is to see just how bad the problems in the first Singerman film are going to get magnified in a potential sequel, that's going to have like $60 million less of a budget to boot.

LOL yeah right you obviously were way out of touch with the SW fans if you think too many of them were thinking Episode 3 would be anything but a huge letdown after the shit Lucas put out in 1 and
2.

"Singerman isnt syncing up with any pre-exisitng continuity that everyone knows is good."

Really like what? Fans are still fighting like cats and dogs over the issues Superman 2 had in reference to the mythos of Superman. Would that be the continuity in Superman 3 and 4 you are referring to? Citing the comics in my view is not hitting a HR either because how many great Superman SL's have there been in the comics the last 10 years or so. One the Death of Superman that is about it.

Anonymous said...

"how many great Superman SL's have there been in the comics the last 10 years or so. One the Death of Superman that is about it"

Actually death of Superman was more like 14 years ago so it is even worse than i thought.

voice_of_reason said...

^ the fact that you cited the Death of Superman as one of the "good" Superman storylines of the past two decades shows you have next to no knowledge of the comics. The Death storyline was a marketing gimmick, a cheap ploy to increase readership in the books. Everything that happened in that storyline was quickly undone with few exceptions.
There's been plenty of great stories in the comics over the past 20 years Singer could've pulled from for inspiration. He could've used "Man of Steel," "Superman for All Seasons," "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow," "Our Worlds at War", etc. Hell he could've even used "Birthright" and it would've been better than what we got.

As for SW, I'm as big of a SW fan as I am a Superman fan. I know plenty about the reactions to Episode III. And FYI no one views that film aas some masterpiece or even on par with the original trilogy. It's a "satisfactory" ending in most cases to two previous disappointments. if that's what you want for Superman, two bad movies followed by a third mediocre one, then be my guest.
