JLA Confirmed, Singerman Taking a "Back Seat"

Well it looks like today the official word finally came down via Variety that George Miller will indeed be helming the JLA movie, and our old friend Singerman is being put on indefinite hiatus. Of course anyone who's read this blog over the last few weeks already knew that was the case anyway so this really isn't much of a surprise. Ok maybe to everybody except "Restart Mel" that is.

According to the article:
Warner Bros. is moving aggressively ahead with the bigscreen adaptation of DC Comics’ “Justice League of America,” with George Miller on board to direct.

Project, which is the initial phases of casting, is a pre-strike priority for the studio, which needs a superhero tentpole in 2009.

Still, making all the pieces fit has been complicated by overlapping superhero projects in the pipeline, since “Justice League” features a pantheon of superheroes, including Superman and Batman.

Batman and Superman are active properties for the studio, though the next installment in the Superman franchise has taken a backseat to “Justice League” in part because Warners is so keen on the “Justice League” script by Kieran and Michele Mulroney.

“Justice League” will likely feature the characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and Aquaman.

Warners is in the preliminary phases of casting for “Justice League.” Several sources close to the project said that Christian Bale, star of the revived Batman film franchise, and Brandon Routh, star of Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns,” would probably not appear in the movie.

Again, obviously all things we've heard before, but still nice to hear it from one of the industry trades as opposed to websites who's credibility everyone is always calling into question. Exactly, what "taking a back seat" means for Singerman I can't say for sure, but I would think that if JLA is a big success and the guy who plays Superman nails it, I'd have a hard time believing WB would have any interest whatsoever in returning to Singer's mess.

Oh and for all of you guys who've been emailing me asking this, I'd be fine with Tom Welling taking up the mantle in this film. He seems to have all the prerequisites for the part in addition to 7 some odd years of training for it, literally. The key thing above any actor though will always be the script and the director's vision. If those two are in line with the Supes we know and love, then everything will be alright. If we get another Singerman situation where the characters are marginalized and the source material is ignored, then it doesn't matter who we've got in the title role.

Finally, although we may have been ragging on the guy for a while we are men of honor here and we will give credit where credit is do, "Dirty" Sanchez from IESB called this one almost a month ago.

UPDATE 9/21 - Well just when you give IESB some credit for getting a scoop right it seems they've served up a big "shit sandwich" on their "big scoop" from last month about Tom Welling being the JLA's Man of Steel. Nice job, go on TV to declare to the masses that this is going to happen and then a few weeks later back away from it with the infamous "I have no idea what happened." Like I said if they were wrong on this they're going to get fried regardless of the Miller thing. They've likely now succeeded in pissing off a seemingly overwhelming amount of fans of Welling/Smallville who because of this may now have some vitriol against the JLA film when before they probably would've cared very little. Add this to the half dozen girls left on BrandonRouth.com that still care about him and feel as if he's getting replaced, and it's going to be UGLY when the new guy is announced. Way to go IESB!

I WANT Welling to get the role. It would be a fitting "pay off" to all the years of Smallville. But do I think there is NO ONE out there who could play Supes RIGHT? No, no I don't.

Since we all here AGREE on what we DON'T like, it would be interesting to see who people think WOULD be a good Superman in JLA.

Still no official word on the Singerman sequel, according to Steve Younis.

He's become Baghdad Bob.

C'mon Younis go call Al Gough again and have him debunk Sanchez!!

Anonymous said...

As I pointed out in the previous thread, Al Gough is Younis's "go to" guy regardless the situation.
Will there be a Singerman sequel? better call Al..Should I wipe my ass? Better call Al. LOL

Younis has no "sources" to indicate shit. What he has is an internet search, and emails. He just doesn't acknowledge where he really gets his crap.
Any contacts at Warner or DC are strictly business related, for THEIR benefit.
Younis is just an Aussie twit with a website and merchandising deals, trying to earn his living off of Superman.
For some reason, people like him get a website, and develop delusions of grandeur.
LOL, what a joke.

You wouldn’t believe how long I’ve been looking for one AP. After many long hours scouring the internet, I think I may have finally found a possible candidate.
How do you guys feel about Josh Duhamel? He played Captain Lennox in Transformers.

I tell you what in relation to the news about JLA over at Homepage, that guy who works for Fox deserves one hell of an apology for sticking to his guns despite being threatened with banning by Younis & Bailey. It speks volumes about those guys that the idea that a contributor to their boards actually does work in the industry. That gives you an example of how concieted they must be.

You know..Like a soldier, I've been sending emails AND typed letters through the postal service to Alan Horn and Jeff Robinov at Warner Bros. week after week.

Staying with S.S.S.'s "BOOT SINGER! REBOOT SUPERMAN!" letter campaign.

Every time I dropped those letters into the "Out of Town" chute, I've wondered, "Am I the only guy that's doing this?"
I came to these comments pages, finding kindred spirits in each and every one of you that hated Singerman, that abhorred what Bryan Singer did to an American comic book icon that's faithfully existed, in every shape and form, for nearly 70 years.

Singer broke that faith. Singer desecrated that icon, and in doing so, also desecrated the death of someone I loved very much. My son.

I won't explain that correlation here. A few people may have a very strong suspicion about who I am in my making that statement, and they would be right. S.S.S. knows who I am.

The thing is, I kept wondering each time I sent those letters, sent those emails. "Am I the only one doing this? Am I just being a fool? Is anyone at Warner other than a secretary reading my letters?

Now I know.

Unlike Steve Younis and Neal Bailey, who had nothing but praise for Singer publicly (Neal, you were being two faced, you and I both know it.) My motives for wanting and seeing Singer and his awful version of Superman shot down wasn't out of conceit or ego.

(OR out of business related reasons. I don't merchandise those gay action figures and DVD.)

My reasons for seeing Singer brought down was out of a deep and abiding love for my lost son.
(Believe me, my son had a direct tie to the character "Superman", and Singer defiled it. In doing so, (reaffirming my claim) he desecrated the dead. I took it VERY personal.

I owe each and every one of you a debt of gratitude I can never repay. I wasn't the only one mailing those letters, sending those emails. I wasn't alone in the effort. I wasn't being a fool.

From the bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you that sent those emails and letters to Warner Bros. Once more, you have my eternal gratitude.

I thank S.S.S. for standing up when sites like the SMHP were only concerned with their selfish commercial interests, and by kissing ass, held hopes of opening doors and gaining favor in an arena they could never hope to be a part of in reality.
In an arena where they were considered geeks with unrealistic expectations.

S.S.S., I know at times in my emails to you, I may have sounded "over the top" in my intensity in seeing a Singer sequel squelched. I'm sorry if I came off that way.
If you were in my shoes, been through what I have, you would understand. Nonetheless, I apologize if I came off as some kind of psycho at times.

Thank all of you. You don't know what this means to me.

Finally, in the previous thread, Sepharih said...

"Either way, we won. Singerman is dead. As long as Routh doesn't get into JLA, we can safely put that chapter of our lives behind us, right?"

Not for me. Honestly...I look at this as only one round...which by most accounts we seem to have won (yay us). But the fight isn't over.

As I've said before, even if Singer was blacklisted for the rest of his life over this what would that really mean to us? We're more than Singerman critics here...we're Superman fans. The fight isn't over for me until Supes gets a proper movie treatment, even if it's in a Justice League movie.

And oh yeah, keep Routh as far away from this project as possible."

As much as those at the SMHP like to view us as NOT being true Superman fans, we are.

Most definitely.

And I agree with Sepharih, this is only round one. It's not the victory, the battle isn't over. It's way too soon for anyone to rest.
I believe the letter campaign should continue against Singer. Overkill? No, I don't think so.
I think Warner should be convinced Singer's sequel can't be a fall back plan if the JLA film falls apart before production.
If anything, I believe our efforts should be stepped up. Warner still needs to see mail piling on their desks, thanking them for the JLA move, and for ousting Singer, and encouraged to lock the door behind him.
I hope S.S.S. is with me on that, and gives you the same admonishment.

Once more, with sincerity whose foundation is impossible for me to express in this post, I thank each and every one of you that sent those letters and emails.

Perhaps we've succeeded in taking back a National icon that has stood for the best. Perhaps we've taken back Superman.
We won't know for sure until we see what the JLA film will be like, but I at least now have what I didn't before.

Hope.

swright posted this at smhp, but you'll notice he didn't come over here to make the announcement.

"I just got a call from my usual source. It's true that Welling did not sign. However, I was told yet again that they plan to keep working on a deal. They are also looking at other actors, but Welling is still their #1 choice.

The 5 contract signings did turn out to be false. There were 3 but none of them involved actors.

Also, Man of Steel is done. Dead. Gone. The studio execs have decided if another Superman film is made it will be a restart as they did with Batman Begins. Routh was told the news about a week ago. Being under contract for MOS, he was guaranteed a shot at keeping the role. I didn't like that info, but oh well.

So that's it for now. All we can do is hope and pray for a deal to be worked out but it looks like the triangle of WB, Smallville's producers, and Welling were unable to figure things out before Miller signed his deal.

I'll keep you all updated as I hear things."

Younis is contradicting him on the same page.

Anonymous said...

I haven't researched online yet to see whether he's still alive or not, but if I didn't know better, I'd say this sounds like the 'son' in question is Christopher Reeve, & if so, it would be his father posting this. Could this be the case? Something to definitely check into.

The thing with swright is though he is an apologist, but he's also about the only realist on SMHP. He would have to be the only apologist that actually sees the merit in a reboot. Especially if Welling's involved

Believe me, there are apologists that have just gone loco in their denial, but I'd have to say swright's not one of them. In fact he's actually keeping it honest over there at SMHP, and that's to his credit with the current climate over there

B.K.

He's ALSO come over HERE acting like an ASSHOLE, so forgive me if I don't think he's an "o.k" guy. I appreciate the fact you may not have "bad blood" with him, but MANY of us here DO.

And Younis knows DICK about what is going on, and has NOT received his contract for marketing the JLA film yet. Until he DOES, he will tow the line set down by WB and BS. "Pimp" the latest Superman media, even to the point of LUNACY.

Anonymous said...

swright posted this at smhp, but you'll notice he didn't come over here to make the announcement."

I posted it anonymously in the report below because as AP just said some people here have a big problem with me and I figured it would be taken more seriously if I posted it without my usual name.

I'm really bummed that TW is out of the running, at least for now. I just hope the new Superman is somebody that we all can get behind. If Miller wants to make this Superman older because it's going to be a one and done movie then I would want someone like Caviezel. I don't know if he can bulk up enough though in time for shooting. So it's going to have to be someone already built. I think the Brendan Frazer idea might work if what the director of the next Mummy is saying in his blogs..and that is that BF has gotten himself into tremendous shape for that movie. So if he is in that kind of shape then it would be easier for them to hire him.

But Tom Welling should be in this movie. Warner Bro's are just stupid. Apparently Smallville as overtaken HEROE's in the DVD sales department. If they are seeing this then they have to know that Welling has A LOT of fans out there and he should be the next Superman.

Anonymous said...

Puncher, I think in Younis's case, and with most of the apologists at the smhp that are bemoaning the fate of the Singer sequel isn't ALL based (particularly in Younis's case) on merchandising and licensing concerns.

I'm not joking here, though plenty of it has gone on here on what I'm about to say.

I truly believe in my heart that Younis and those who are crying over Singer's Superman are latently Gay.
Seriously. Not joking this time.

Whether they are closet gays, or honestly haven't come to grips in acknowledging it, or coming to terms with it, it's the only explanation that makes sense.

You can't look at Routh in that "fetish suit" as you've called it, and not see that it IS a gay man's sexual fantasy.
Honestly, I'm not joking about this.

Caviezel and Brandon F NEITHER one bear enough facial resemblance to Superman to be seriously considered for the roles.
When the casting director first saw Christoper Reeve, he/she? saw a face that could be easily molded into a pretty close facsimile of Superman straight from the comic books.

I've NEVER understood the pull for Caviezel when, although a good actor, has no facial resemblance to Superman whatsoever.

Hell, if you're going to go with Caviezel as Superman, then lets go all the way back to Nicholas Cage for the part.
he has just as much resemblance to Superman as Caviezel. Sheesh.

Brandon's eyes are too "buggy", and his face to "soft" looking.
Damn it, we need an actor with the strong facial features befitting the man from Krypton.
Not these weak chinned, weak jawed offerings.(Brandon has a stronger jaw, but still, he's "baby faced".

I don't care who it is though as long as it's NOT Routh.

ApologistPuncher said...

Of course Singerman was FULL of homosexual "fantasy". Younis is NOT gay by CHOICE though. I've seen the guy, and I can tell he had NO other OPTION.

BJ was TOLD to "mold" his body into the "Gay Adonis" look, and being of a "similar mind", he went for it WHOLE-HEARTEDLY. A "swimmers" body, according to BS. He was SO misguided in his choices for this film, that he went with what he DESIRED, IGNORING what the character SHOULD have looked like. The Apologists would rather throw-up the "Homophobe Shield", than ADMIT they share the SAME desires.

Uh, doesn't that "posting style" seem FAMILIAR? Think about it, and you'll get who it is...

"Brandon F NEITHER one bear enough facial resemblance to Superman to be seriously considered for the roles."

I STRONGLY disagree with your assertation about Brendan Fraser. The guy would be a GOOD "older" Superman, and has the SIZE and acting ability BJ LACKED. Clark Kent would be a BREEZE for him also. Mix his character from "Blast From the Past" with the one from "Bedazzled", and there he is.

No, I'm not Jeph Loeb. I'm just someone who loved his son dearly, payed tribute to him the only way I could (at the time), and hated that Singer would desecrate my heartfelt effort.
Superman was the vehicle I used, and the very idea of Singer taking something I had put my whole heart and soul into as a memorial to my son, and turning it into a gay man's sexual fantasy has sickened me left me distraught. It's been a nightmare.
I hope Singer is over and done for all time as far as the Superman franchise goes.

Myself, I think it's great news. Singer has no concept of Superman other than he flies and can lift stuff. Beyond that, there's no resemblance to the character.
The costume is gay, Routh is as wooden as can be, the storyline infantile and absurd, everything about the film just SUCKS.
Special FX airplane catches and bullets bouncing everywhere doesn't make it Superman, or Routh an actor.

So why all of the crying and denial over at the smhp??

Ok, heres what we actually know.

1) IESB has repeatedly reported poorly on this topic. They are wasting our time. They say "Big News! Tom Welling is Superman in new JLA movie! We are sure!" followed by "Our bad. Tom Welling is out of the running." They like to jump the gun on these kinds of rumors and then cover their tracks later. Its pathetic.

2) Variety is a TABLOID. There are no official quotes of any kind in that article from WB, Singer, Miller, or anybody else. They reported falsely on Iron Man. We can assume the same thing here.

3) The most "official" thing we heard so far was from Bryan Singer's mouth himself saying just a few months ago at the Saturn awards that all things were go for him to start MOS after Valkyrie.

4) Singer is a dang smart guy. Im confident he knows how to pitch a movie to WB and so Im very reticient to accept any report that says WB would just toss Singer and his vision out the door.

Superman Returns was a fantastic film. Gets better with each viewing. We have reason to believe that Man of Steel will be made and will be even better. Until I hear something more official Im not going jump on this JLA movie bandwagon and believe all these stupide rumors. The whole thing sounds like one giant load of s@#t to me."

That phrase is ambiguous to begin with..."my Sources indicate"..

Proof? You can't offer any since there isn't any. This is all speculation. No one at WB said they were disapointed with SR. They were pleased with it and only stated that it could have done better but it did good enough. They wern't 100% pleased with the first draft of MOS but got behind Bryan's second draft. What we know is WB and Legendary are behind singer for a part 2. The budget was cut since thbe key sets are built. Routh, Spacey and Singer are singed for 3 movies hence they will have to be paid regardless. "Bryan has still said that they are preparing for a 09 release. All we know of JLA is rumor and specualation. Variety as well as the website in question are far from perfect and the woman at the site in question has been praying for a reboot for ages. Nothing is offical, but if WB rushes this then the only chance of a great Superman movie is MOS."

Here's the latest from the Homopage, this from a very prolific Singerman supporter. You couldn't convince this guy if JLA were opening next week! Oh, & notice the spelling.

Also, did you see how Younis confronted 2 'realists' early on in the discussion for bashing Routh & SR? 2 realists that I suspect probably post here also or at least frequent this site. I personally didn't see anything wrong with their viewpoints but they got a quick rebuke from Younis. Will he threaten them with a ban? But it's OK if a Singerman nutsucker cusses out realists & call them names? Give me a break!

That's because the runt pig is a hypocrite. Hypocrisy runs rampant at the smhp, and that's why I side with apologistpuncher about swright.
You can't make an honest statement about Routh or Singer at the smhp without Younis having a fit and snapping a garter belt and snagging his fishnets.

He's a rotten little weasel. I took a lot of shit from swright over painting a true picture of the little bug-eyed Gargoyle.
I know the little turd and he's an insult to humanity.
I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't him posting as retard.
But you get butt suckers like Bailey and swright over there,(stupid bastards. It's not their website, they do it for the prestige of being associated with the little bottom feeding scum sucker.) They jump to his defense out of sheer idiocy.
I promise you, if Younis thought in some way he would gain by shitting on either one of these guys, he'd do it in a heart beat.
There's been no situation to arise for him to do so....yet.

LOL. The smhp is a fraudulent mixture between a mentally ill caricature of a Superman fan site, and a house of distorted mirrors.

If swright had any REAL sense and personal values, he'd do well to leave and start his own Superman fan site. Being a Younis stooge is a sucker game. Ask Bailey, look how long he's been playing at it. Where's it got him?
Self deluded as Hell, that's where.
You're not going to find honesty at the smhp. And for all the graphics and merchandising, the spirit of who and what Superman is supposed to be isn't there either.

For the first time in about 3 years our of utterly morbid curiosity, I went and checked out the messageboards over at SMHP. All I can say, is holy christ are the spin doctors and people in denial in overdrive over there.

Variety is apparently a "tabloid" now? Routh has an ironclad contract for 3 films and has to be paid either way? It's like they're getting strapped to the electric chair and desperately trying to reason with the guy who's buckling them in and soaking the sponge. They're grasping for anything that will possibly delay the inevitable.

I do want to address something regarding the Mud Packer of Steel sequel.

S.S.S, I really admire you, and your no bullshit take on things.
I also think I've read a lot of rumors, but nothing in any REAL concrete form that confirms the Mudpacker of Steel film is shit canned. Only further delayed.

And that's the thread that little Monkey Younis is clinging to, and the Hell of it is, its a legitimate thread, no matter how much we want to assume MOS id dead.
Hollywood, and Warner in particular, can change direction in mid-stream at the drop of a hat.

You know this.

So even while we're basking in a victory, like Sepharih said, this is only one battle won. The conflict isn't over yet.
I think, as was stated before, the letter campaign is a tool we should keep working.

Quality work is worth doing right.
We HAVE TO keep sending those letters to Warner eschewing Singer and his handling of Superman. Let them know the awful taste is still there, and we want it gone forever.
We can praise them for putting the JLA out there, and taking real steps to see it through. Continue to push for Welling.

We can't know what Warner is going to do, but we sure as hell can be an influence in their decisions. We have to keep trying.
We can't kick back and assume the Singer debacle is over and gone,

So please, I'm asking all of you to keep the pressure on Warner. Don't be complacent and think it's all over now,
Lets be a part of the solution. Let's keep the letters going to Warner.
Maybe one day, we can tell our grandchildren that we saved Superman, and it will be true.

Sorry for the nag, I just want to see the last nail driven into the coffin as far as the Mudpacker of Steel and Warner is concerned,
Please help me get that confirmation,

How come this site is so anti gay, Singer's film has gay subtext, like gays feeling like outcasts and they used get beaten to death by hetero guys like Superman getting beaten up by Luthor's thugs, Luthor is anti alien(gay). But we can talk about all of this maturely like adults, that all of this shouldn't be in a Superman film! Isn't part of Superman character, it's in Singer's and his writers!

The WB are about to go 0-2 with their Superman franchise.
Routh was a mistake, and the WB will make another now casting who ever else they can pick up from the MTV lot.

Uh, no. No, not at all. Look, I want Welling to be in JLA as much as (if not more than) the next guy, but lets be realistic, Singerman tanked because it's a dumb, shitty, repetitive, hollow, boring, gay abortion of a movie; you could've cloned Christopher Reeve himself and put him in the suit in that flick and it still would've flopped because it's a shit movie from a shit director written by shit screenwriters.

If Welling had been in Singerman, it still would've failed and *ANY* hope of seeing Welling in a *real* Superman movie would've been lost.

colors, you're intelligent, and absolutely right.
It doesn't matter WHO the actor would've been in Singer's trash film.

In THAT gay costume, with all the gay/deity subtext contained within a shitty Donner theme, there just isn't an actor alive whose career wouldn't be negatively impacted by Singer's shit-fest.
Tom Welling better be Damned glad he wasn't in Returns. I'd like to think Reeve, if he had been young enough, would have passed on it, or at least quit once he saw the costume Singer wanted him to wear.

I still remember the uproar that went across the internet over the unveiling of that Damned gay suit.
Singer even admitted he took a lot of shit over it. (Which is a CLEAR indicator that he KNEW he was foisting a Gay Superman on all of us, but wasn't going to flinch or back down from it.)
Where the Hell was the concern by the Warner execs THEN??
The unveiling of that fetish costume was a red flag and told any thinking person with common sense where the Hell the film was headed.

It's been pointed out several times that Warner over the long haul, handles superhero film franchises VERY BADLY.
I agree that Batman Begins is almost tantamount to being a miracle considering it came out of Warner studios. But Returns was a case of back to business as usual as far as fucking up goes.

I also agree with others that everyone here is breathing a sigh of relief too soon. Especially considering Warner's track record.
It surprises me very much that S.S.S. himself hasn't addressed the issue, or recognized it.

Myself, I intend to keep sending emails and hand typed letters to the Warner heads decrying Singer's ineptness with Superman, bolstering the JLA film, and seeking a reboot of Superman WITHOUT Routh or Singer.

swright is an apologist Younis lackey. I truly believe it's highly within the realm of possibility he posted the "MOS sequel is officially dead" to derail the very purpose of the existence of this Blog, and our efforts to oust Singer.
He thinks we're stupid enough to take the bait. And if everyone here stops sending mail to Warner, then he will be right.
Letter campaigns DO work guys, and now isn't the time to kick back and claim "Mission Accomplished".
The allegory to Bush on that aircraft carrier is intentional, because it's the same situation until we get solid info that MOS is a dead project.
Yes Puncher, I realize Warner may never make an actual "formal" announcement regarding it, but at some point, a REPUTABLE news service other than SWRIGHT will let us know MOS is REALLY DEAD, if that is indeed the case.
Until then I encourage all of you to stay with the program. Keep the letters going. Just posting your feelings here isn't enough.

Please S.S.S., you're remaining silent on this, and I think you should jump in and give everyone a wake up call.
A battle hasn't been won here, only a skirmish. The fight isn't over yet.

Part one is out of the way, Singer is gone.

Part two, getting rid of Routh. Rumors have it he may with Warner's last week, we can only hope it was Warner's giving him the heave ho. Guy didn't impress anyone with his wooden performance, so he needs to go as well.

Some Routh asslicker over at SHH it spreading stories that almost any else that could be cast is busy with other project, probably in hopes of Routh being the only option.

Yes Cavill is shooting "The Tudors" but that can shoot from now until forever, and Bomer is only in the pilot of NBC's "Chuck", so they should both be open for this, considering both are much more talented and look like Supes than Routh ever could.

There are other better actors in the world to play this part, so hopefully Routh is gone.

"almost any else that could be cast is busy with other project,"
I can't believe people think that way. If Welling's out, fine, whatever, but there's some unknown waiting tables at an LA restaurant who could be ten times the Superman Routh ever was. Find that guy, put him in a cape and let it go. Or there may be a fairly better established actor who's up for it. Hell, they found Hugh Jackman for Wolverine in just a couple of days. It can be done.

There's no way in hell Warners are going to cast Routh again. The whole point of JLA existing in the first place was to rid themselves of Singerman. They're not going to risk *any* association with that turd of a movie.

S.S.S. said...

Routh wont be cast in JLA, come hell to high water he wont be cast. I'd bet my mortgage on it. This is all BS being spread by those who cant deal with the demise of Singer's franchise and want to see it live on in some form with Routh in JLA.

What they seem to be ignoring and what anyone within 100 miles of WB Studios can tell you is that the guys at WB led by Dan Lin who pushed through JLA and got Horn to sign off on it, are apparently as big of an anti-Singerman group as the ones who come here regularly. They just spent the past 6 months convincing Horn and Robinov that JLA was the way to go and the SR was only setup for further disappointment down the line now that the curiosity factor of a new Superman film is done. This is the same group that was against Singer doing the project like he did in the first place.

These guys wouldnt use Routh if he paid them to. They just fought tooth and nail to have Singer dumped, why on God's green Earth would they then go and cast the star of THAT movie in this new franchise that they're risking a lot on. They want NOTHING to do with ANYTHING from Singerman.

As far as casting rumors, I dont believe much of what's being said now. This whole Welling thing with IESB leads me to believe that either A) the Studio is floating them certain things to see fan response, or B)they're acting like they have more info then they actually do. from what I've been told Miller directing JLA has been one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood. Also WB wouldnt have started negotiating with Welling without Miller's OK on it, so this thing about Miller calling WB off of casting him seems a bit odd as well.

The rumors about Miller wanting an older cast seem to run counter to the Studio wanting to use JLA as a vehicle to spin off the other heroes into their own franchises and then redo Superman. I dont know how much stock to put in that, but what I have heard about the script previously was that most of the heroes were younger (i.e. mid 20's). But things could've changed.

Anonymous said...

"Someone mentioned earlier about the scene with the gattling gun on the rooftoop in Singerman. The fucking idiot BS even dropped the ball on THAT scene TOO!"

Don't forget, that scene was an additional shoot at the studio's insistance to Singer to put some fuckin action into the movie.

And what did Singer do? He gayed it up of course. The phallic gattling gun spraying all over Superman until he gets it in the eye.

Wow, Oscar Wilde only wished he could be that gay.

If anyone has seen Superman Doomsday might want to check out another injoke apart from the hilarious Tim Burton/Kevin Smith scene.

Welling would link JLA to smallville.

Routh will link JLA to Returns.

Smallville in its last season.

Returns has many more possibilities.

If this movie ever gets made...(funny how no one replied to my World's Finest comment) Routh will be superman. If he turns it down its because it will be so abysmally bad. What if JLA is bad? What then? Of course no one will answer me since all I will get is insults and no one has a brain on here. Maybe agreeing with me is not a bad thing.

Tell me why this project is anymore rushed than ALL the other superhero movies that were ever made!? Not every project has to spend 15+ years in development hell!

And NO, you're NOT living in reality, especially with your poor Batman VS Superman comparison! Those were totally different times and situations!

AND: Singerman will never be "canceled"! It will just be never talked about again! THAT is how projects get canned in Hollywood. It's not a TV show were you have to make an announcement about it's future. In fact, Singerman 2 NEVER had an official announcement in the first place! But keep dreaming, moron.

Right before Jessica Biel was announced as a candidate, it was also reported about another hottie being considered named Victoria Hill. The links can be found over at SHH. "And this goes to our CGI loving friend REtard: IT'S GONNA BE "LIVE ACTION" FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!!!!!!"

You should check out the Younis page, man. The people there fall into one of two camps- (A) morons who believe Singerman- Man of Donner is "on the way" and JLA should/will be cancelled (B) morons who believe Singerman- Man of Donner is "on the way" and JLA should/will be CGI/mo-cap.

There's not enough time to do a CG movie and there's for damn sure not enough to do it fully mo-capped, but somehow these nitwits seem to think there's still hope for "2006's biggest star" putting his tiara, I mean, CAPE back on.

As if that's not enough, they think they represent the majority of fans. Hey, the Superman fans I know are either ambivalent about Singerman or else openly hostile. And don't even get me started on the "I'm waiting for an official cancellation announcement" crowd...

It would funny if it weren't so tragic.

Anonymous said...

Victoria Hill looks nice but lacks the stardom Biel has right now! JL will likely feature alot of decent stars and maybe one or two really big stars to compete with the new Marvel films. Not directly but if there are sequels and judging by the track record of Marvel movies coming out I guess we would see a Box Office battle sooner or later.

It's also cheaper and much cleverer to hire actors right before they hit stardom! If the movie is a hit and the actors get big within the sequel, the sequel will do BIG numbers regardless of the quality. Spider-Man and X-Men, anyone?

Can this be the reason why SR sequel is being "delayed"?

http://movieblog.ugo.com/index.php/movieblog/more/bryan_singer_headed_for_superman_trial/

Anonymous said...

Ya know, I wish the Siegels would leave well enough alone. Right or wrong, Siegel and Shuster sold the character. It's done. Get over it.

As for why a deposition from Singer (which normally takes only a few days AT MOST) would hold up the film for so long, that sounds like an apologist excuse to me.

Anonymous said...

With or without Singer, this whole "fighting" between WB and the Siegels may be the reason why WB is being nonchalant about not just SR's sequel, but ANY future Superman-related franchise, and this is what I fear MOST. I mean, I'm glad if they really canned Singer's Supes BECAUSE of the lackluster success of that movie, but if this is not the case, if the court-case IS the real REASON for the "delay", then this doesn't hold any good news for us Superman fans. I mean, from the rumours read somewhere about the supposed storyline of the JL movie, Supes's role is downplayed while Batman is the leader of the League. And what if WB lost the case to the Siegel?

Anonymous said...

I'm not a lawyer, but if the Siegels win the case, they win Superman, Superboy, Clark Kent and, possibly, Perry, Jimmy, Lex, Lois and maybe some others. Maybe even Jonathan and Martha. That would mean (as the Siegels have stated) that DC and Warner Bros won't be permitted to use those characters anymore for anything at anytime.

Meanwhile, characters such as Doomsday, Metallo, Brainiac, Parasite, Bizarro, Mxy, Ron Troupe, Cat Grant, Bibbo, etc etc etc would theoretically remain the property of DC Comics... and something tells me Satan will need a parka and a heating pad before they let the Siegels have access to those characters.

So basically this spells the end of Superman as we've known him for the bulk of his history and essentially puts him right back in 1938. Swell!

FUCK YOU, SIEGELS!!

Anonymous said...

LOL, I don't know guys, maybe it's time for anyone to start a new blog/website, probably naming it something like "SIEGEL'S SUPERMAN SUCKS", or "SIEGELS' LEGAL CASE ON SUPERMAN SUCKS".

Anonymous said...

FUCK YOU, SIEGELS!!

No, they only want due compensation for the ownership of the characters that Seigel and Shuster created. If they win there's no way they would sit on the character and withdraw Superman from the public arena. What's the financial gain in doing that? Warners will have to pay the creators to use the character, that's all. Superman's supoosed diminished role in JLA would have nothing to do with the court case. If he appears at all and the Seigels win the case it makes no difference about the amount of screen time he gets, they'll have to pay the Seigels for his appearance. The court case has no bearing on MOS, as Warners would proceed if they thought it worth doing so for the same reason Superman's in JLA. Doctor Who fans would be familiar with the similar situation with Terry Nation's estate and the use of the Daleks.

This is just more apologist's clinging to straws and scaremongering instead of accepting the truth that Returns failed and the sequel won't happen.

Frankly, the Seigels' would have a strong case by calling Singer to deposition to demonstrate to the court how Warners via Singer don't understand the character and have perverted Superman from the creators original intentions...and as evidence my honor I present the theatrical release "Superman Returns"

Case closed

Anonymous said...

Younis's podcast is yet another Singer PR spin, like that's a surprise.

Of course he quotes rumors about Biel and Routh being cast but dismisses rumors that MOS won't happen.

What a fuckin joke the pair of them sound. MOS goes into production in May 2008 according to Younis. You can tell he's no journalist.

"They've likely now succeeded in pissing off a seemingly overwhelming amount of fans of Welling/Smallville"

Just imagine the joy when Welling is officially announced as the big screen Superman.

Anonymous said...

Wow, calling Singer to deposition, it's like an instant win to the Siegels!

Anyway, I can see to worst-case scenarios:

(a) If the Siegels win, WB will resort to limiting the amount of appearances of Superman. Because to they had to pay the Siegels for each time Superman is appearing, and being the idiots like they are now, so why not just screw the payment by not having to pay (by, of course, making Superman's appearances, as limited as possible).

(b) If the WB wins, they will continue screwing and butchering and perverting Superman, as evident in last years fiasco, SUPERMAN RETURNS.

...HOPEFULLY, those will not happen. Either way, I hope WB "learns" their "lessons" and will be more "respectfully" in handling Superman in the future.
.
.

Back to topic: According to the "leaked" JLA script, it appears to be that one of the Leaguers will "go bad". I'm guessing SUPERMAN? By "going bad", will he actually THROW A PUNCH for the first time in the silver screen for today's generation of Superman fans???

Anonymous said...

"...will he actually THROW A PUNCH for the first time in the silver screen for today's generation of Superman fans???"

Yeah, can you imagine it. An action packed film featuring Superman.

Nah, surely they'll stick to the Singerverse and all the heroes will mope about whilst wearing costumes that make them look like the Village People. Batman and Robin will adopt a son and Wonder Woman will be played by Keanu Reeves.

ApologistPuncher said...

The Shusters and the Siegel's distant relatives AREN'T going to "win" anything, and it was NEVER about that to begin with.

Some "ambulance chaser" got into their ears about going after WB in regards to the character. None of them own a publishing firm, none of them have ANY interest in "funny books". They are looking for a BIG pay-day from WB, and they'll get it. A pay-day NONE of them deserve. Jerry and Joe have passed, the people doing this had NO HAND in creating the character.

Am i the only one that is getting this eerie feeling that WB is thinking about Routh in JL? Seems they thinked they had Welling locked up for this and now that is in doubt. I read the other day that WB does not want 3 different guys playing Superman and the burden of having to promote yet another guy who has no ties to the role the way they just did with Routh. Lets hope Welling is still in on this and we don't get stuck with Routh again.

Anonymous said...

I have that sinking feeling too, Besides unlike Welling, Routh is begging for the part and most likly willing to take a pay cut.

Anonymous said...

Exactly he has a few things lined up but nothing major. Welling is in a better spot to negotiate than Routh and it seems like he may be officially out here. I don't know what happened and i will be pretty mad at him if he was made a good offer and turned it down. That will confirm what so many have been saying about him for so long about not wanting to wear the tights.

Anonymous said...

But if Routh takes it then it seems to link it to Singerman Returns, the kid & all, so to be sure WB doesn't want to repeat THOSE mistakes, including Bosworth. Better that WB goes with a guy who has ALL the tools, appearance & everything, even if it's not Welling or Routh. I mean, just look how AWESOME the new Hulk film is shaping up to be!

ApologistPuncher said...

I know Welling wasn't a Superman fan when he started Smallville, like Routh was. I think Welling is afraid that he'll be typecast as Superman for the rest of his life. When Singer was looking for someone to play Superman in Returns, John Schneider advised Welling not to do it for this reason. Personally, although I wouldn't mind seeing Welling in the role, I think that was good advise.

Anonymous said...

So basically Warner's is begging Welling to do the role, and Routh "My career has gone south" Routh is begging for the role. If, unluckily, Routh does get the role, how embaressing for everyone involved that he basically is the last, worst option.

How pathetic. Warner's doesn't want him, fans don't want him, and yet he literally has to beg to be given the role.

Wow, his career really is dead.

Dear Warner's , forget Routh cast any one else.

Anonymous said...

"How pathetic. Warner's doesn't want him, fans don't want him, and yet he literally has to beg to be given the role."

That is the bad thing go look at some of these polls at places like SHH and IMDB, a lot of fans do want him in the movie. I want Welling but i think he does not want to do it or maybe he wants more money than WB is willing to pay. I don't get why some say he does not want to be typecast as Superman. It is a little late for that Tom. He had been playing Superman for 7 years now that is what he is known as. Why wouldn't he take advantage and play him on the big screen? I like Welling but i don't see a big film career for him when SV is over.

Anonymous said...

I hope money isn't the issue with Welling but rather his prior commitment to SV and the fact that JLA will be filming at the same time and in another country.

Welling I'm sure is very much well off compared to Routh, seeing as Tom owns a couple of homes while Routh can't even put a diamond ring on his wifely's finger.

For what it's worth I think the Welling situation is disinformation spread by the studio.

The suits at WB have to know that a JLA film featuring Welling, Reynolds, Biel and Gosling would be money in the box office, the likes of which their superhero films have never seen and might even make MArvel studios hurry with an Avengers film to capitalize on the hype following JLA.

Anonymous said...

Did you cats see the season premiere of SV and how Welling did Bizarro's voice deeper than Clark's!

Nice nod a la Christopher Reeve.

Between this and the epi where he dons the glasses and the clumsy persona the guy has all the tools to bring Supes to the big screen.

Anonymous said...

"I hope money isn't the issue with Welling but rather his prior commitment to SV and the fact that JLA will be filming at the same time and in another country. "

From what I've read, it was a last second problem in the negotiations that caused them to stop for now. He apparently has no problem doing the movie. But I do find it funny, how when they announce that it's going to be filmed down under that they hit this snafu.

Watching Smallville tonight, and seeing TW give the scared kid the Superman patented "Don't worry, you're safe, I'm here." look, really made me upset if he doesn't end up doing this movie.

"Watching Smallville tonight, and seeing TW give the scared kid the Superman patented "Don't worry, you're safe, I'm here." look, really made me upset if he doesn't end up doing this movie."

Wasn't that great. Seeing him a new in the season opener has made me too hope like hell Warners cast him.

Anonymous said...

I'm a big TW fan and a SV fan but regardless of if Welling gets the part in JLA or not us SV fans will have at least 7 to 8 years of our Supes, that's probably the longest tenure ever in TV and film for any one person playing the character.

I'm really hoping that TW does get the part in JLA but don't see how it can happen if the JLA films in the land down under and SV films up in the north, unless the show will do without Welling for moments at a time and the film crew at the same time is willing to shoot of his scenes later down the line.

For TW to get the part compromises are going to have to be made on both sides. Hopefully as we speak they're being worked out and bouth sides hasn't just given up.

Jessica Biel turned down the role of WW in JLA. So they STILL don't have any of the parts cast.

Isn't it funny that an EPISODE of Smallville showcased MORE of Clark's abilities, than Singerman did on a HUGE budget?

The absolute essential part of this movie is getting Tom Welling to play Supes on the big screen. The guy is the full package, and he already is this generations Supes.

Sorry Singerman peeps your Superman was a very bad knockoff of Chris Reeve that belongs back in the 80's.

And yes AP did you see the part when Clark took out the entire dam flood with his heat vision! that effect probably cost the SV FX department probably next to nothing to do and tops everything in comparsion to Singer's so called 200 million budget big screen film.

You're right, that less than 1 hour episode (without commercials) was more action-packed & awesome & flowed FAR better than the over 2.5 hours of Singerman Sucks. Welling was far more impressive here than Routh, & they actually had a slugfest! AWESOME! But if you go to the HOMOPAGE even 'the closeted ones' can't totally seem to agree with if it was good or not, & still bashing JLA.

ApologistPuncher said...

Yeah, the heat-vision effect seems to be getting more impressive as the show goes on.

Anyone else notice how DARK Welling's hair was in the episode? Almost looked black, instead of his usual dark-brown. And when he ripped his shirt off, I bet BJ was watching and hid his head in SHAME.

I would like to see Tom Welling as Superman. What is really holding him? The producers? The schedule?

I'm sure that WB already knows that they're sitting on a goldmine with the possibility of casting Welling and I'm sure that all of these issues with him will be eventually worked out in some way.

if the gods of scheduling can make it work (with the introduction of Supergirl this season on SV I don't see how it can't)

I'm sorry wasn't Ratner the one that made the X-Men huge and successful.

Anonymous said...

Why, at this point in his career, is Bryan Singer still making so many "mistakes" to learn from? You would think that by now, he would have learned a thing or two about how to direct a film. He clearly isn't a gifted filmmaker, and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the character of Superman ever again.

Anonymous said...

What do you mean he is not a gifted filmaker look at his resume? Are you going to tell me Usual Suspects is not a hell of a movie? X-men and X2 were both very well received both at the BO and with critics. You may have issues with Singer and SR but he is a very good director. At the end of the day he directed a Superman movie that made over 200 mil at the BO. Shit there are worse things to happen to a director in their career.

Anonymous said...

"I'm sorry wasn't Ratner the one that made the X-Men huge and successful."

Oh please X2 was so much better than X3 it is a joke. X3 had a big opening weekend thanks to the success of the first 2, which Raetner had nothing to do with.

Anonymous said...

Regardless of how much money SR made at the box office, it is a terrible movie. So is Singer's "Apt Pupil." his other movies don't do anything for me, even The Usual Suspects, which I think is overrated. I think he's a lousy director who lacks the instincts and talent of the directors he tries to emulate. To expect him to "learn from his mistakes" at this point is just a little ridiculous.

A real filmmaker would not have put Superman in a greenish blue suit with a blood red cape. That shows a poor sense of visual style. Then there's the ridiculous storyline, which shows a poor grasp of narrative. Poor casting, poor performances, an ugly visual tone for the entire movie, etc. These are not "mistakes" to learn from. They simply show poor filmmaking ability.

Anonymous said...

"Oh please X2 was so much better than X3 it is a joke. X3 had a big opening weekend thanks to the success of the first 2, which Raetner had nothing to do with."

Yeah, & X3 went on to a bigger box office PERIOD as well, not just opening weekend. However, since Ratner directed it, it sucked, right? Morons! If Ratner had directed Supes as originally planned you'd be sucking him off right now INSTEAD of Singerman.

Anonymous said...

"A real filmmaker would not have put Superman in a greenish blue suit with a blood red cape. "

Uhm....Donner's Superman suit was in fact greenish blue (if you've ever seen it up close) and the cape was blood red. Singers suit was dark blue and a brownish red. Not the same.

I love this guy.

"Bomoer or Cavill or Walker"
If it can't be Welling for whatever reason, Bomer has my vote. Who is this Walker person you're referring to?

"If Ratner had directed Supes as originally planned you'd be sucking him off right now INSTEAD of Singerman."
You're probably right. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing what he could do with Superman. Dear Lord not with that Abrams script, but with something that truly honors who Superman is? Yeah, I think Ratner would do fine. Couldn't be any worse than Singer at any rate.

Anonymous said...

"Yeah, & X3 went on to a bigger box office PERIOD as well, not just opening weekend."

It sank like a stone after opening weekend buddy because most only showed up because they liked 1 and 2 so much. The X-Men franchise Singer deserves most of the credit for. Kill him for Superman all you want but Singer's X-Men movies were vastly better than X3.

Yeah it is enough said if you want to stick your head in a sandbox and not have the intelligence to understand why that is.

I hate Singer and SR but i gotta be fair. X2 owns X3 as a film. That is why i hate Singer actually. I figured he made a great comic movie on about a 100 mil with X2 so with a plus 200 mil budget for Superman he should have made the best fucking thing of all time instead of what we got.

Anonymous said...

With all due respect the only thing that matters to the studio is overall box office gross. Not what ever or not someones feels that a movie is a "film".

As far as X3 goes it did well enough to where the studio is still spinning both a Wolverine and Magneto film trying to milk it for all its worth.

Time Warner probably after seeing all the banking hit after hit from other studios with their licensed characters (Spider-Man, Pirates, Transformers, ECT) this summer probably realizes more than anything now how hard Singer dropped the ball and how out of touch he is with what it takes to make a blockbuster that everyone can enjoy.

Heck, The Simpson's film's total gross this summer was higher than that of SR.

I guess Singerman has nothing on Homer and Spider-Pig.

Here you can quote me:

Singer is a fuckin one horse pony whose films are all too influenced by his sexuality.

Filmgoers got the gay allegory Singer attached to the X Men, but they sure as hell didn't appreciate the gay subtext he burdened Superman with.

Sometimes I'd be happy to let the apologists have their fuckin gayfest Man Of Steel so Singer can finally, beyond all doubt, kill Superman once and for all just to shut them the fuck up! Some of the rubbish I've read posted about how wonderful Returns was, and how stupid it is to make JLA makes me fuckin wonder about Superman's "fans", not that you could really call them fans, just BabyYounis'

Yeah, & you got your head stuck in Singerman's & Younis' crotch because you like to lick all the 'cavities' down there.

Wow I am so popular I have no less then 2 people inpersonating me. Well if you see the above post looks like the Krypton scene will work into Returns sequel. Now some bit of lies.

"Heck, The Simpson's film's total gross this summer was higher than that of SR."

Domestic: $181,761,193 was over 20 million less the returns. That is the market that counts. So with the link above it still proves that...................

Man of steel in 2009!

Cage was once Superman and burtons Superman? AP nice to see you stopped banging my dead mother. Proof again that there is only one Restart. But keep it up clones lets own this board.

Yeah AP:
"Angelian Jolie with relationship with foreign countries"
Does that mean Wonder Woman will adopt poor kids from other country while ignoring all the poor people in her own? Or does it mean she will love other countries more then US? Typical American PC idiocy! This is why the Euro owns the US dollar!
"Redeye"
Not to be confused with the James Bond movie "goldeneye" which we took the plot point from.
Dam where are the evil clone robots from the spoiler site i read from. I personally liked Luther making evil clone robots. Got to find that site. Until next time its..................

"season of Clark-Lana-Lex, I’ve been smacked over the head with the realization that this show has got to end…and I’ve got to get counseling for sitting through it all.

There were three overall story arcs going on in Season 6: The Clark-Lana-Lex love triangle reaching an all-time level of schmaltz, Clark having to chase down phantoms – disembodied alien criminals that he set free when he escaped from the Phantom Zone - and the emergence of a Clearasil-set Justice League in the form of Green Arrow and previous superheroes introduced in earlier seasons: Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash. Leave us first touch upon the latter two story elements before diving headfirst into the empty pool that is the super love triangle, shall we? When we left our hero at the end of Season 5, Lex had been possessed by the phantom of Zod, everyone’s favorite Kryptonian supervillain. Zod banished Clark to the Phantom Zone and had set earth in chaos via and alien virus which disrupted the planet’s computer infrastructure in preparation for Zod’s rule over the planet. Oh and by the way, Lana willingly went to Lex after Clark broke her heart for the 357,000th time"

CHUD describes the problem with Smallville above. And you want The Fog to star in JLA. You are really mad. Like not to believe.....

Singer's Vision is back in 2009!

Restart

JLA would be doomed with T. W. Don't believe me watch Smallville if you can stay awake.

"JLA would be doomed with T. W. Don't believe me watch Smallville if you can stay awake."

Last I checked Tom Welling wasn't a writer on Smallville. Oh and since you are really that uninformed, Tom Welling WAS NOT HAPPY about what they did at the end of last year to Clark. Do me a favor and actually WATCH the fucking show before you try and say he wouldn't make a great Superman.

Holy triple post Batman!

1. Yes, Smallville jumped the shark in season 4 and desperately needs to end. But the problems CHUD has mentioned have nothing to do with the acting, they have to do with the flat out embarrassing ineptitude of the writers.
As I've said before, they more then proved their ineptitude last season when they went for that "twist" of Lana never being pregnant and not one of them had the intelligence to raise their hand and say "umm...X-ray vision?"
And you know what? Despite all that I still think it's better than Superman Returns, and that Tom Welling would make a much much better Superman.

2. Please go back and read your link to superherohype.
"Bryan Singer's group has made noises about including the lost sequence in a sequel film, and I sure hope they do that so I can see how it turned out!"
It's just an offhand comment he made, and for all we know Singer may have said this prior to JLA becoming a reality. It's more likely they'll put it on an extended edition DVD. You're grasping at straws.

Yeah, & by one of his own peers over at the Homopage, no less!

You must have SV confused with SR, the movie Time Warner's own Entertainment Weekly proclaimed "the bore of the year".

As far as comparing The Simpson's to SR, any studio in their right would take a film that cost 75 million to produce and grosses 182 million dollars at the box office over a turkey that cost 270 million to produce and tanks unable to earn the low end estimate of its production cost back.

I see "superfag95", as REtard like to be called now, is back trying to stir shit up. The fucking SAD part is, it's OBVIOUS he is BOTH the fucking cum-gargglers posting.

And don't fall into the SAME Apologist clap-trap. First the BO doesn't matter, then it does when it suits their argument, then it doesn't when you bring up a higher grossing film. Of which their have been NUMEROUS, since Singerman Peep-ed it's way to OBSCURITY. Luckily, it took BJ's "career" WITH it.

That dwarf Younis is threatening posters over at the Homopage again over JLA & MOS. I think it was under the article about Jessica Biel turning down Wonder Woman. The same lame and tired argument about 'one won't affect the other' crap. Man,the troll must really be getting edgy now, and is threatening to start handing out discipline. What a crock! As usual, it's the same old song and dance, as when apologist vs. realist. I think we all know how that turns out, with the smigle little dwarf.

Is it me or are the only fans of Superman Returns homosexuals?

Anonymous said...

Probably not all, but probably a lot, and probably a lot that JUST WON'T ADMIT IT. Seeing their precious BJ probably makes them want a BJ, giving and receiving.

Anonymous said...

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now, homosexuals just latched on to the film due to it's subtext, and it's director, that thier intrest has nothing to do Superman! The sames goes for X2, with Bobby telling his parents that he's a mutant gay) and Stryker thinks his son can be cured of being a mutant(gay) and isn't able to cure his son he thinks all mutants(gays) should be killed. Even Kevin Smith said the X-Men films are gay!
