Super-Wachowski-Man?

Hello there,

Well, it appears the "confirmation" of BS' departure just becomes clearer & clearer:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/40084

Here is the "important" bit:

Bryan Singer has refused to undertake a re-boot of the Superman franchise and has left the Executives at WB with no choice but to take a fresh creative direction.

He "refused"? Please.

He stated the Wachowski Brothers had been approached to re-boot the franchise as a trilogy and they are currently reviewing their options as its like being asked to take the final play in a superbowl final. Says if they do agree, he will likely either succumb to providing second unit support on the movie or will champion the directorship of Plastic Man - He started to giggle as he stated its like a young child for the Brothers and they wont give that up easily.

- Says, the very thought of the brothers making a superman movie is unbelievable as they have grown up in the world of comic books and they would be ideal for the project.

The Wachowski Bros., huh? I haven't seen Speed Racer, but it looked like they were TOO FAITHFUL to the 60's cartoon. The Matrix movies went from VERY GOOD to PRETTY LAME, but tell me that last fight between Smith and Neo DIDN'T look like a "Superman"-type brawl to you? And I'd rather have someone who respects the characters history, and includes it in a brand-new motion picture, instead of a fatheaded MORON making a film for HIMSELF.

Are they my FIRST choice? Nope. Do I think they CAN'T make a good Superman film? No. IF it's them, I'm willing to give it a chance.

Stated that Bryan Singer is looking to move on to Logan's Run a movie to be produced by Joel Silver.

*YAWN*

Good riddance to bad rubbish....

The amount of anti-Singer comments (not to mention numerous gay jokes) on the forum following that article over at AICN is amazing.

Just shows how out of touch and how small a minority the Singer lovers really are.

I thought Speed Racer was a good time at the movies. For the life of me I can't figure out why it wasn't a bigger hit. If they bring that same level of devotion to a Superman reboot, only the douchebag Apologists are going to cry about it. Because they don't like the character anyway, they only like Singerman.

Yeah, I liked Speed, really only since I grew up on the cartoon. But, I also enjoyed the Matrix trilogy. So I'd like to see the W/B's take on Superman. I remember talking with my nephew after Reloaded that they should definitely use the flying scenes for any new Superman movie. I also think the W/B know enough not to force their own personal agendas onto such an iconic character

Anonymous said...

I remember when I watched Matrix: Reloaded on DVD, I too liked the flying scenes & thought the FX was pretty good. I remember in one of Neo's flying scenes someone referred to him as doing his 'Superman thing' again or something to that effect. At one time I may've even welcomed Keanu to have had a crack at the character of Superman even based on his Matrix performances & the fact that his appearance could fairly easily be made to look the part. At this point though he's probably getting too old for an ongoing franchise.

But whatever the Superman reboot actually turns out to be, it does need to deliver THAT kind of action, whoever is in charge.

AP, I thought of something. Remember some time ago, how long anyway, maybe a year & a half ago? Anyway, we all remember Eunuch threatening the 'dial-up guy from Colorado' with legal action. Wasn't it also around that time that Neal 'the Felcher' Bailey came on this very blog under the name 'Armstrong' & said that he was Neal Bailey, & AP, when you checked, it really WAS Neal Fagley, I mean, Bailey.

AP, I bring this up because remember just before savesuperman went down, there was some guy who came on there posting to deliberately stir up trouble & antagonize the other posters, whom Steve promptly banned. I wonder if this was maybe one of the people giving Steve a hard time to where he took down the site. The timing seems suspect.

Also, I'm expecting that once Steve's site IS back online, duh apologists will come out of the woodwork trying to stir up trouble. It wouldn't even surprise me if FilmFagJamie shows up but under another user ID.

But it still begs the question. Will we see the return of the Felcher? ;)

I hope the Wacko Siblings don't get the directors job I mean if you thought it was bad with the gay under tones just wait til you get a transsexual as the director!

Singer is a homosexual but he at least isn't having a sex change op!
You thought that people we're going to talk about Superman being GAY with Singer just think what will happen when people see Lar... er wait I mean Laura Wachowski as the director!

Jesus man is there no heterosexual Directors left in Hollyweird?

Actually, now that you mention it, that WAS very suspect. I wonder if Steve can still track that guys IP address and do some "cyber-snooping" of his OWN....

And yeah, wonder how that "lawsuit" went down over in Australia? Did he win the guy's telephone cord or something, and has a "lien" on it in case he tries to sell it??

The HomoPage. What a joke.

As for the reminiscing, yeah it does seem a bit fishy.

Interesting but i am not sure i buy it. Speed Racer was a critical and finincial failure for WB. The Wachowski's haven't made much since the first Matrix. Reloaded was okay, the 3rd one stunk.. There are better candidates out there..

Singer is a FAG and Superman Returns was gay.

LOL,

I hope some more good news comes out soon. Can't wait for Routh to go away...phil

The Routh fans think he still has a chance, LOL

Not really, On Her Majesty's Secret Service was a good movie. Singerman sucked cock and SR sucked cocked.

As long as Geoff Johns is writing or consulting on the the story and John Williams is composing, id welcome the wachowskis.Oh and before you say it they can still use the Williams superman theme. Look at the James Bond franchise. The basic theme is always the same, just updated!

One easy (and obvious) way to show that this is a whole new ball of wax is to put the Williams theme out to pasture. Before Singerman, I might've been in favor of keeping it. No longer. Singerman tarnished it by association.

aw come on just because on her majesties secret service sucked and lazenbies bond sucked didnt mean they had to drop the bond theme lol besides im on bout williams himself doing it not half arsed john ottman i know you want to distance yourself from donner as much as possible but ill have a real hard time hearing any other music when he flies. Besides if we can forget 3 and 4 exist, we can bloody well forget singerman sucks exists!

"You'll survive"

Why should we have to? The Williams theme is bigger than any one movie. Update a new score but don't abandon that theme altogether. It's too legendary..

Tainted, now that BS and Ottard FUCKED IT UP.

"Tainted, now that BS and Ottard FUCKED IT UP."

So is the Indy score tainted because Indy 4 wasn't very good? How about Star Wars after Episode 1 and 2 stunk out the theatres? Likes i said, that amazing score is bigger than any one movie.

ApologistPuncher said...

Indiana Jones wasn't a travesty. I'd put it above Temple Of Doom, but below Ark and Crusade.

And EP1 and 2 weren't trying to convince us that Hayden Christensen was the effeminate, perverted, deadbeat dad continuation of Luke Skywalker.

So once again, TAINTED

The STM/Williams theme is not some infallible piece of music that was revealed from on high to John Williams. It's great, I love it and never get tired of it. In fact, it was the best part of Singerman.

But. It's time to move on. New talent, new direction, new franchise, new music. It is the way of all things. The way of the Force.

Anonymous said...

I probably like the Williams theme good as any other fan, but to me, it doesn't invoke images of Singerman.

It DOES invoke images of Christopher Reeve however. Especially if you're watching the 1st 2 films, & Reeve did make you believe that a 'man can fly'.

The problem, though, is that this franchise DESPERATELY needs new blood. Reeve is no longer an option (no disrepect intended), & even if he hadn't had the accident, he'd be too old now. So a new guy has to come in. BJ Routhman is obviously out for 'sucking' reasons, & it's debatable if we'll ever see Welling in the tights.

But like I said, this franchise NEEDS new blood. Whether that means a NEW origin film that's not a carbon copy of Donner, or a new actor, or even a *GULP* new musical score, SOMETHING needs to be done to MOVE FORWARD.

Let's face it, the Williams theme DOES invoke the image of Reeve, & ANY new film that doesn't do ANYTHING different possibly has to face resistance in that the new actor never measures up because he always has to be in Reeve's shadow.

All that was good, but at some point someone has to think about the future besides Jack Napier.

We're in the process of cleaning up the forum, writing the updated front page article about why we went down, and taking care of some other changes. Figured doing it now would be easier than doing it later since the site is already offline.

Still haven't found anyone willing to talk about whether the rumors are from new talks or just old news coming to light that we already knew about. Either way, the more I think about it, the more I'm against the Wachowskis unless they ONLY direct and someone like Johns, Waid, Morrison, or Grant writes the script.

Mark Waid can piss off. Anybody who thinks Superman should be a vegetarian with soul vision needs to get run over by a bus as soon as possible.

But Clark sure could eat those pretzels, couldn't he? Carbs for energy? ;)

But seriously, is Waid himself a vegetarian & thus trying to force his beliefs on the reader? If so, don't appreciate that at all. That steak tastes just fine, thank you.

Oh, & check out THIS piece of crapola:

Seems to be more Singerman disinformation about duh 'sequel that is just around the corner'. That's all we need now is more fuel for duh apologists to 'lick' up. Thoughts?!

Here's another link for all those Dark Knight apologists:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=darkknight.htm

It seems that TDK has now crossed the $1 billion mark internationally after 217 days. Now how long was Singerman in theaters? I forget exactly & don't wanna look it up, but I know it took like 4 or 5 months just to break $200 million domestically. At least TDK has achieved a MUCH more significant feat! Hey, leave it in the theater until it makes a BILLION!

But the reason I bring up TDK apologists is because all you'll have to do now is go to SingerHomoHype to see the fallout from this. All these 'FIRST!' morons will be crying Ledger & TDK, I guarantee it, especially with the Oscars coming up. I don't even have to be psychic to predict it!

Superman The Movie theme by John Williams

Superman 2 and 3 by Ken Thorne (using Williams material)

Superman 4? Fuck knows!

Singerman Sucks by John Ottman (using and fucking up Williams material)

Can we please have a discussion as to why the Williams theme (by Williams himself) can't return? And don't say cos of singerman sucks, cos like i've said before if we can ignore 3 and 4 (as gayboy singer wanted us to) we can ignore his singerman sucks aswell.

Alexander Courage did the Superman IV score. And, really, I think he did a pretty good job.

As for why the Williams theme needs to go, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A FREAKING REBOOT. Seriously, what's so hard to follow about this. New cast, new director, new continuity, new EVERYTHING. The EASIEST way to accomplish that is with a new theme and other new music. It's not hard to follow. Williams score is great, I love it, I play it all the time but it's time for something new.

Anonymous said...

Again Bond was a reboot but it kept the theme (and always will for that matter) so what's the issue? I'm just about over singerman sucks but i have to say this i don't want the last film i see with the class williams theme to be singers piece of gay shit. I'd like John Williams himself back but if that doesnt't happen so be it. All I'm asking is that you consider the possibility. Is that ok?

Colors is right. New everything should mean exactly that, NEW everything, even music. It's even like the point I brought up recently. The Williams theme is great & all, but it CONTINUALLY invokes the image of Christopher Reeve & that whole continuity, Singerman or not.

When Donner came along, he didn't try to copy the George Reeves TV series, NEITHER should a new creative team emulate Donner, etc. It's a new day, capice?

Just remember we're on the same side here. However I gotta admit Nolan's Batman theme has grown on me to the point it's nearly taken the place of the theme from Burton's films and the animated series. So that said as long as it's a good new heroic theme for Superman, I think we'll all be happy. I will be sad to see it go though but I am not sad to see singer gone. I now hate him for two reasons.

1) For claiming he was a superman fan, messing it up so terribly and then refusing to apologise. Delusional twat!

2)Because of that travesty i'll never hear the Williams theme in the cinema again. Unless Warners somehow re-release Donners 1 and 2. That said I hope warners get it together quickly and we see Supes (the real supes) again soon.

Anonymous said...

"However I gotta admit Nolan's Batman theme has grown on me to the point it's nearly taken the place of the theme from Burton's films and the animated series."

What exactly IS Nolan's Batman theme? What I mean is this. Nolan's Batman starts off without credits, music, or anything, it just dives into the story, then at the END of the movie, you see the title, TDK for example, & THEN music, credits, etc.

WHY does Nolan DO this?! Tim Burton's 1989 Bat-film STARTS OFF with music, the great theme by Danny Elfman, while the Bat-logo rotates until the point that you KNOW it's the logo,THEN the film.

Nolan does the opposite. What's up with THAT?!

Anonymous said...

That's just his style. In begins the main theme is heard when Bruce is surrounded by bats in the cave. In the dark knight it's expanded and becomes more heroic during the final joker confrontation. Better yet listen to the dark knight score tracks aggressive expansion and like a dog chasing cars. They're the themes.

AP, don't let those guys from the homepage get you down. Keep expressing your fear and anger you have inside you. Let it out. They don't understand that dark, lonely, isolated place you live in.
