Well at least one of them.
Apparently Sam Raimi isn't taking any chances with his successful Spider-man franchise, and unlike Bryan Singer, he has the ability to push his own ego aside to make a better movie.
After hearing numerous justified complaints about how Singerman lacked any real "punch," including WB Chief Alan Horn basically admitting it as a reason for his film's subpar box office results, Raimi is apparently reshooting parts of the upcoming Spider-man 3 movie to include more action scenes, so unlike with Singerman, young males will actually have a desire to see his film and not snicker to themselves and question the hero's manhood.
Imagine that? A director who doesn't let his past successes go to his head, and is willing to change his game plan to give the fans more of what they want. What a novel concept.

You guys on this blog are something else, i hate to break it to you but a re-shoot, coming off of a failed test screening is never a good thing. Spiderman 3 is in real trouble, it has already been poorly received in a test screening and they are changing the script as we speak, plus it is opening on top of Pirates 3 and Shrek 3 next summer.
The quality of Spider-man 3 is irrelevant to the point of the article that they're purposely reshooting to avoid the "lack of action" criticism that led to SR's demise.
Even so, since most of the effects work isnt finished I'm not sure they'd even be having test screenings of the film at this point?
No where in this article does it state that they are adding more action to not make the same mistakes as Superman Returns. You didn't like Superman Returns, I get that and that's fine, but your constant attack on Bryan Singer is getting childish. And Bryan Singer can learn from his mistakes as he's already stated that there will be alot more action in the sequel.
I enjoy reading differing opinions about SR, but please stop with the childish attacks on Bryan Singer. It brings your credibility way down.
you know what's so funny? That there is going to be a sequel, and all the pathetic fanboys aren't going to get their reboot...lol...
And you guys wonder how the Simpsons comic book geek became so popular and is nothing but a fat loser..lol...half of you geeks probably didn't even see the film and are only playing follow the leader.
Sam Raimi is a great director and someone who respects the comics, is actually a comic fan.
I am not a Spider Man Fan, but they got the BEST director they could get.
and my biggest superhero ? I felt so depressed after watching Superman returns.
You know what's REALLY funny? Someone who defends BS travesty by saying OTHERS are "following the leader".
When the sequel is made, sans BS, they will be LOST.
SM3 is going to probably gross at the same rate as POTC3, something that Singerman can only dream about.
It's funny, the same people who condemn the blog author for being a "comicbook geek" are the same people who probably average about 20 postings a day on superhero message boards. Pot meet kettle.
I didnt say that the article drew that conclusion. It's our conclusion based on the fact that they're doing reshoots for "more action" in SM3. Ironic seeing as how they announce the reshoots after the head of WB explains how the lack of action cost SR. It's a fairly obvious matter of putting two and two together.
Actually if BS isn't involved it won't bother me. I'm going to go see it and I'm going to support it because it's superman. I'm not going to base my opinion on the movie based on the sexual orientation of the director. I don't remember people having a huge problem with XMEN. In fact I remember people being upset because BS wasn't going to be involved in the project. And I think among XMEN fans that they all agree that the 2nd was the best one. It improved on the original, and that's what I think BS will do with Superman.
I hate the SR movie so much. I know theres alot of fans out there that love the movie and I truly believe they are in denial. I was for a while the first day I saw it, I made myself like it. But I knew it was long and boring with no suspense at all. The second time was it, I knew I hated the movie and especially hated BS for giving us such a crapy movie. I hope he gets kick out the sequel project and never touches a Superman movie in his career again. And from what I have notice the general public feels the same way. I mean I have not seen kid with Superman t-shirts or media attention to the charector since it release. Unlike Spiderman who was a hit in the theaters and outside.
Sorry boys, Singer Fans. There was no test screening. The Irish press made it up, but Raimi did want more action in it but it wasn't for ridiculous reasons. Franco just mentioned that Raimi wanted a bit more action.
the reason why X2 was an improvement on the original, was because Singer got more money and had a bit more freedom. Yet with Superman Returns, he had a budget of 204 MILLION DOLLARS and complete freedom and still came up with the most expensive episode of Will and Grace ever. So to improve on Superman Returns, what does he need? 500 Million?
Saying: "I'm going to support it no matter what because it's Superman" is EXACTLY the kind of fans BS was hoping we all were. The kind that would take any turd wrapped in a Superman-like "S", and swallow it with joy.
Sorry, I want a QUALITY Superman movie. Not just "any" Superman movie, and definitely not "Peeping Singerman".
I'll take this version of Superman over the Matrix ripoff of the Abrahms idea every day of the week and twice on sunday.
That makes ZERO sense, since only ONE was filmed.
"I'll take that REAL turd sandwich over the imaginary turd sundae any day of the week and twice on Sunday".
Yeah, I'm smart enough to choose neither....
Actually numnuts that version was very close to being filmed, and it was only Bryan singers sales pitch that made them go Bryan's route with the story.
But I'm guessing that you will only except a Superman that matches the exact frame on page 22 Allstar Superman or something.
What the hell is a numnut? I will "except" something? Son, get hooked on phonics.
It's really not fair, conversing with an obvious half-wit.
Man i've had to deal with you guys on every other forum and it's great being able to piss you guys off like you've been doing all summer to the fans of the film, just because they liked the film. I'm loving this. Why? Because I don't care and as soon as I log off of the computer I'll forget all about it. You on the other hand will want to punch a wall because I've gotten you so upset...LOL..Good times..

Wow, and I thought you were ONLY stupid?
This guy really thinks he got the best of me. Of ME? I hope anyone out there reading this is laughing as hard as I am. I point out his OBVIOUS lack of basic writing skills, and I'M upset? I nail HIM with insults about his intelligence, and HE'S having "good times"? Wow, someone needs to get this guy off the streets. He's delusional.
So on the one hand Singer is to be criticized for including elements into Superman Returns because they looked cool and at the same time we're applauding Sam Raimi for going back and adding some cool looking action to Spider-Man 3.
So when Singer adds the cool stuff it's bad, when Raimi does it it's good?
I think something about that isn't quite right.

Uh, you do realize Sam Raimi has 2 HUGE hits under his belt with Spiderman right? I mean, take off the Singerman glasses for a second.
His Spiderman is NOT regarded as a box-office letdown, is it? He didn't warp the costume into some weak, drab-colored mess did he? He didn't make a "chick flick", did he? I could go on and on. The point is, Raimi has delivered, BS hasn't.
Commercial success doesn't equate to artistic quality. Did Raimi feel the need to alter his previous entries to inlcude more action so that people will want to sit throught it?
If not, why not?
Singer wasn't criticized for ADDING elements to SR that looked cool, Singer was criticized for KEEPING elements in the film solely because they looked cool over other parts of a story that would have made for a more cohesive plot.
Great move. For the HD-DVD of Star Wars Lucas should go back and add "more action" to the first half hour of A New Hope. Its really boring.
"His Spiderman is NOT regarded as a box-office letdown, is it?"
No but...they do suck.
"He didn't warp the costume into some weak, drab-colored mess did he?"
No but it does kinda look like a short pudgy guy is inside it.
"He didn't make a "chick flick", did he?"
The Spiderman movies are childrens films.
All of the above is only my own opinion (as if that needed to be pointed out) but my point is that just because the Spiderman movies are undeniably huge mainsteam BO successes and SR is not doesn't mean they are works of genius or that everyone adores them.
But then probably my favourite movie of the Summer was Miami Vice which did even worse than SR AND everyone else thought it was shit. C'est la vie.
"No but...they do suck."
Fortunately, to the general public, Singerman Peeps sucked EVEN MORE.
"No but it does kinda look like a short pudgy guy is inside it."
Which has WHAT to do with the comment regarding the look of the suit? Oh yeah, nothing. Spiderman costume = Faithful. Singerman costume = Train-wreck.
"The Spiderman movies are childrens films."
Yeah, but at least Raimi didn't go around alienating the core-audience by calling them "chick-flicks", did he?
You know, if Singerman Peeps had SUCCEEDED at the B.O, you "Apologists" would be touting that as a "monumental achievment". But because it FAILED, now the B.O doesn't matter?
And nevermind trying to "spin" what you THINK the "profits" are going to be on this film. I'm not as dumb as some of you seem to be.
"Yeah, but at least Raimi didn't go around alienating the core-audience by calling them "chick-flicks", did he?"
You know Superman 2 which most Superman fans loved, was way more chick flick than anything you are seeing in SR. I mean what because he spied on her and is pining for Lois in SR, that makes it too much of a chick flick. Superman literally gave up his powers in Superman 2 so he could spend his life with Lois, now that is chick flick.
"Yeah, but at least Raimi didn't go around alienating the core-audience by calling them "chick-flicks", did he?"
You know Raimi has done a great job on Spiderman but it is not like he has never fucked up before. I mean before Spiderman he was known as the guy who made cheap ass horror movies that sucked like Darkman, what a piece of shit that was.
SOOOOOOOOOO, how is Spider-man 4 coming out? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL
