Another Superman Film is "Way Off"

For those of you who've been wondering what the status was of the Superman franchise, after Singer got done screwing it's corpse, the outlook doesn't look too rosey. It appears that if they do choose to do another Singerman film for some ungodly reason, it won't be for a good long while.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Singer's producers, Neil Meron and Craid Zadan, are moving forward with Singer directing their pet project, a biopic of slain gay right activist Harvey Milk called The Mayor of Castro Street, as soon as Singer finishes with his current film -- the WWII story Valkyrie.

The next Superman, that's a ways off," claimed Meron, with Zadan adding. "Don't worry about it. Trust me. We may even start preproduction on Harvey Milk while he's on post production on the Tom Cruise movie."These boys are determined to make their movie, comic books be damned. "We've been working on that for 15 years," said Meron. "It started off with Oliver Stone and Robin Williams. Now it's Bryan Singer directing, Chris McQuarrie writing the script."
Now in addition to this is appears that Valkyrie is having a lot of issues on their own, as Germany didn't want batshit crazy Tom Cruise to make a movie there because he's a scientologist. Although now it seems they've backtracked on that, although they're still denying the production crew access to some key sites they planned on using which is still going to cause delays.

Could this be the opening for the potential JLA movie that just had a script turned in? Or could WB plow ahead with this franchise without Singer at the helm? (They did after all, boot him off of the Logan's Run remake he wanted to do so badly.) Either one would be an improvement. We also predicted this might happen back in April.

Perhaps someone should relay this news to Brandon Routh? (and all of the suck-ups over at IESB. ). He seems pretty confused about a lot of things. The fine folks over at C.H.U.D. have an amusing take on that "interview."

Isn’t this the exact same situation that Singer had with Fox and the third X-film except this time Singer is delaying his current superhero project to do two films, thus causing to be replace him with Ratner because Fox didn’t care to wait for him and delay the production start time.

This by the way turned out to be a very good financial move for them with X3 outgrossing Singer’s two films.

We can only hope that Time Warner decides to reboot Supes in the vain of the new Hulk because no director whatever it be Michael Bay, Brett Ratner, or Sam Raimi could add enough action to the point of covering all of Singer’s fucked up continuity issues and the bad casting he left on SR the first time around.

Anonymous said...

If Singer really loved Superman the way he claims, he would make the sequel his number one priority after his Tom Cruise film is finished. But no, Singer decides to push the sequel back to make another film.

I mean, Sam Raimi loved Spider-Man so much that he made three Spider-Man films in a row without doing anything in between. Christopher Nolan loved Batman so much that he made "The Prestige" again with Bale then immediately jumped on board "The Dark Knight."

But what does Singer do? He does nothing. He would much rather work on other films rather than a Superman sequel. I think this above all says how much Singer "loves" the character of Superman. I mean, there is no Richard Donner Superman sequel for him to rehash, so why bother with a sequel, especially when it requires him to read DC’s Superman comic books -- the same comic books he chose to vehemently ignore while filming "Superman Returns."

Yeah, I agree. I also have to wonder if Singer, by being "too busy" with other projects, is also creating a possible excuse/reason here for not doing a sequel to SR just in case WB ends up going with another director. He could always tell the public, "Hey, I was going to do it but WB didn't want to wait so they went with someone else."

But I agree. If he loved the franchise that much and the film had done very well financially, both WB and Singer would not be putting off the sequel as they are doing.

According to Singer in a recent interview he is doing Superman next so who knows what is going on. WB and Singer need to figure this out soon. Get someone else to direct or let him do it, but all this speculation is totally out of hand.

Anonymous said...

^that interview was more than a month ago and Sunger didnt say he was doing Superman next, he said they were working on a script, that was it.

Anonymous said...

If history is any guide, Singer will walk into the offices of Warner Brothers and say, "wait for me. Wait for me." And if they're anything like 20th Century Fox, they'll be displeased.

Anonymous said...

HA,Ha as if they weren't dipleased with the box office outcome of Singer's first outting already!

Anonymous said...

"that interview was more than a month ago and Sunger didnt say he was doing Superman next, he said they were working on a script, that was it."

They asked him is the plan to do Superman after Valkeryie and he said yes that is the plan. You don't find it odd that he made no mention at all of this Milkman movie. The producers are saying it is happening soon not Singer. Singer was suppossed to be doing Logans Run for like 2 years now. WB just needs to decide one way or another what to do. The JL is a bad idea, make another Superman movie with Singer or another director.

Anonymous said...

"The JL is a bad idea, make another Superman movie with Singer or another director."

Yeah, it is a bad idea. To me, that would cheapen all the franchises. What they need to do, if they make a JL movie at all,is to wait for the respective franchises to grow and become established, or run their courses, and then perhaps make a JL movie, but not before.

This is what gets me time and time again...how could anyone come away from seeing Returns believing that Singer "loves" Superman??

The only people who believe that nonsense are Younis and his band of Singer sycophants

All this is just paving the way for Warners and/or Singer to back out gracefully, leaving the eternally clueless and unemployed Brandon Routh to give vague answers to questions about the proposed sequel

Terminal

Actually, Routh would be about the most likely thing to come back, he's desperate and he works cheap.

Have you seen the list of credits that Meron & Zadon have to their name?

"Gypsy"
"My Life With Judy Garland"
"Chicago"
"Hairspray"
...and now "Harvey Milk" directed by Bryan Singer.

Unless I miss my guess, I reckon they might be fags

Superman becomes straight again!

"Is this truly the end of Singerman?"

We live in hope. If we're lucky Singer will vent his gay angst on Harvey Milk's biopic instead of inflicting it on Superman again.

Great photo of Singer on this entry, btw. Doesn't he know how to make your skin crawl in photos. Look at him fondling himself as he fantasises about another underage shower sequence. After that "indescretion" if Singer was a school teacher they would've locked him up.

I suppose this development in the ever increasingly unlikey prospect of Singer returning will go unreported on other Superman sites. The recent interview with welfare recipient Routh is seen as good news by many over there!!

SSS you do know that Singer's producers to SR are on record as saying the sequel is right on track. Singer himself said as much recently in an interview at the Saturn awards. He backed his SR producers up. This does not hold much weight mainly because Singer has said nothing to back these guys up.

Some of you guys have an odd misconception about the entire dynamic between the producer of a film and the director. The producer of the film is the boss of running the project, the cirector is in charge of getting the movie itself made. The producer in 99% of the cases is the directors boss. If Singer is signed to do this Harvey Milk film, as it appears he is, and the producers of said film are saying he's shooting once he's done with Valkyrie, then you can rest assured, that's what Singer has to do. The only way that changes is if the studio heads re-prioritize the films, but seeing as how there's a lot of differing opinions at WB about Singerman, I dont see them being in any rush to jump on that grenade again, especially since they dont even have a script yet.

Anonymous said...

Actually Singer only has to do it if it's in his contract that he has to do it after Valkyrie. Otherwise he can do as he likes.

Anonymous said...

Singer would be stupid that to do his gay politician film right after his Tom Cruise film, it could go a long way in redeeming him after his superhero debacle much like Brokeback Mountain did for Ang Lee after the Hulk, while letting someone else more qualified with the actual Supes DC mythos spin a new take on him and leave The Donner of Yesterday back where it belongs in the past.

Anonymous said...

"Riiiight. They've got nothing invested in a possible sequel, have they?"

And the Milkman producers have nothing invested. Difference is Singer has said he wants to do Superman next, these guys made their comments on their own.

Anonymous said...

According to an interview with Martin Grove with The Hollywood Reporter when asked why Singer departed "X3" to make "Superman" instead, Singer told him, "I've wanted to do it for years. I always have.”
Well guess what, it’s the same story once again but with a different character, Singer has wanted to make this Brokeback Politician film for over a decade and the film’s principal producers have confirmed that he will do it after the Cruise film wraps although word from him probably won’t come until Valkyrie finishes up.
Face it you apologist/ denialist, your Queer of Steel wet dream is over!

Really so you think it is more believable that these producers on their own said this as opposed too Singer and his Returns producers saying they are doing Superman after Valkeryie. We will know for sure soon. I imagine Dan and Mike are almost done with the script so we should hear something from WB soon thereafter about it getting the greenlight or not.

Anonymous said...

"Really so you think it is more believable......."

Yes I do Steve because the evidence is ever increasing. Any evidence to the contrary comes from actors and Jon Peters clearly not having a clue what's going on, and from Singer himself who is being "diplomatic" as you would expect.

This sort of news is certainly more credible than hearing what Eva Marie Saint thinks is going to happen. Like the poor thing is going to be around for, or be able to actually work on a sequel

Considering that these producers went as far as to state definitively when it was happening and even when pre-production is likely to begin, you can rest assured that Singer is on board with it. I find those statements having a heck of a lot more weight than Peter's vague statements about an SR sequel.
Not to mention there is an urgency to getting this Mayor film made, as there's another potential Harvey Milk biopic in the works from another studio, and WB wants to be first with it, since they've been trying to do it for 15 years. There's certainly no urgency to make another Singerman film.

Oh for god's sake Singer and the Cast of SR and the prodcuers have been saying this same shit forever. Now you are just making shit up guys. ...please?

Second, last time I checked this blog’s primary concern wasn’t stopping a Singerman sequel anyway. That didn’t even seem to be a possibility until a month or so ago. It says at the top of the page that this is “A blog for fans to voice their frustrations with Bryan Singer and his awful version of Superman.” So as long as Singerman persists (or until the guys running this show get tired of it) SSS will still be here giving his humorous commentary on why Singer’s Superman Sucks. That will be one of the things I'll take comfort in should the production get underway.
In fact, the only logical reason I can think of to close this blog would be the exact opposite situation. In the off chance that Singer actually is kicked off the project....then this blog would pretty much be rendered useless.

So, for everyone who wants this blog gone...cross your fingers and hope that Singer gets the axe. That way everybody wins!

Actually you have no way of backing the DVD sales up. Studios do not typically release info on final sales for DVD's. You usually know what they did in their first weeks release both in rentals and sales and in both cases SR and BB opened up at number 1. Final sales though after they were no longer a hot item, you are not going to find that info. As far as the huge hype for The Dark Knight, since not even a teaser has been released i fail to see how it has any huge hype at this point. More people are actually buzzing about Indiana Jones than The Dark Knight, even in Indie's very early stages od production. Heath Ledger (AKA the GAY Cowboy), is The Dark Knights biggest hurdle.

What the fuck is with your comparison of Batman Begins and Superman Returns? The only thing they have on the same ground is the fact that they are both DC characters.

*Superman Returns cost like 210 million to produce with out the added cost of failed projects, while Batman Begins cost 150 million to produce.

*Superman Returns marketing and advertising cost were at the 100 million dollar level. While the marketing and advertising that went in BB was 50 million. Thats about 10 million more dollars than Ang Lee's Hulk got for its marketing blitz.

If you want to compare SR to something why don't you compare it to films that were actually in its same weight class in terms of production cost like X3 or Spiderman 3 and tell me how well it did?

The only reason why SR had that solid opening weekend which BTW wasn't even that great given the fact that Time Warner spent in excess of 100 million dollars promoting the film.

Too bad then soon after bad word of mouth, along with Pirates with Prada killed SR.

Once again It seems like you apologist are so desperate to say that SR wasn't that bad of a flop that you're willing to forgo all basic economical and business logic to do so and just use raw numbers to try and argue.

Opening weekend dumbass. SR made 52 mil, BB made 48 mil FF2 made 58 mil. If you want to compare the first 7 days of release for those films that is fine but all it shows is that word of mouth again was good for BB and SR and lousy for FF 2. After a better opening weekend than Returns and Begins it has fallen apart. Ghost Rider same thing 40 plus mil opening weekend and it only made 115 mil at the BO, lousy word of mouth. The reason i am comparing them is because someone said BB had great word of mouth and SR did not, the facts do not back that up. You want to talk about budget that is a different argument altogether. As far as legs go though, by the numbers there is no doubt that BB and SR both had good legs, facts are facts.

It’s amazing that BB got past the 200 million mark in the US on its 50 million dollar ad campaign, now that’s good word of mouth or the Devil Wears Prada which made 125 million domestic on its less than 20 million dollar ad campaign while stealing movie goers from the much heavier hyped SR.

Numbers don’t lie apologist, it’s your interpretations of them that are distorted.

Bottom line SR’s hype before hand and word of mouth was not very good in proportion to how much money Time Warner spent shoving Singerman junk down the throat of the general public.

Singer is a FAG and Superman Returns was gay.

BB marketing Budget was also 100 mil pal, so there goes your word of mouth meant nothing it was all about the marketing budget for SR theory. Like i said they both got good word of mouth, deal with it and move on.

"Batman Begins has been given the biggest marketing budget in film history and the total figure for all it's marketing now stands at a whopping $100 million."

There are a few links that will confirm this if you still won't let it go.

I knew I remember reading that BB's marketing budget was 100 million instead of the 50 million that everybody on here was claiming. That pretty much shits all over the argument about the marketing budget of SR being responsible for it's take when BB's had the same budget.

messi part II said...

god you apologists are rididuclous. every movie site has said that batman begins had good word of mouth which translated to legs which is why it was in theatres for a while, whereas superman returns did not have good word of mouth(i don't know where you get this from), it was one of the slowest climbers to 200 million ever. Batman Begins was a critically acclaimed movie from critics, fanboys and general public alike. SR had mixed reviews from critics, bad word of mouth from the general public and derision from comic book fans and movie geeks.

Legs does matter, because it shows interest and shows interest in a sequel, you're a fucking idiot because you said it doesn't matter. Your theory doesn't work, anyone in the movie business will tell you legs do matter, alot of movies make big opening weekends but then fall off. God you are dumb.

and The Dark Knight has no hype, this blatantly shows how fucking stupid you are. The Viral Marketing made it's way to major newspapers and blog sites, the revelation of the joker got everyone excited and the hype is huge, it's one of the most anticipated presentations at comic con(it won't be there) but it will be in Chicago. If you can't see the hype and can't see that no one really cares about a superman sequel but people are excited about the dark knight, then you're a blatant bias idiot. All the major movie sites are going crazy over the Dark Knight, it's hilarious that because you haven't seen it that it means the hype isn't big, it's only because you are stupid. Superman Returns did not do well and was not well recieved, face the facts.

Anonymous said...

By the same apologist logic we can also say that Pirates: Dead Man’s Chest was very well received by the general public and had very good word of mouth after its huge opening weekend of 135 million dollars because it had only a 54 percent drop the week after and continued to out earn SR week after week.

This in comparison to SR which had a 59 percent drop after its lukewarm opening because the word of mouth was that the best thing about the film was the Spiderman 3 teaser.

Guess after Pirates came out everyone just forgot about Singerman and told all their friends and family to see Pirates instead right?

Are you talking to me? Find where i said that legs do not matter? I was making my case that they were as good as BB. The numbers back me up. Both opened about the same, both had 100 mil marketing budget's, SR made 20 mil more WW and 5 mil less domestic up against much greater competition. Numbers are numbers guys that is the great thing about them. Furthermore i cited movies like Ghost Rider and FF 2 that opened about the same or even bigger on opening weekend in FF2 case and then fell off thanks to bad word of mouth. BTW SR has a 77% fresh rating on RT that is anything but mixed, that is very positive.

Article about Milkman delaying Man of Steel.

Few highlights..

"The IESB called sources in the Singer camp to see if there where any truth to the producers’ statements. Here’s what they had to say, “That’s total horse shit, I would say the same thing if I was producing that film but don’t you realize that most of the Superman producers are working with Bryan on Valkyrie? Gil Adler and Chris Lee both are in Germany with Bryan and I can guarantee you that there is some work being done with Superman right now.”

and....

"So why would Neil Meron and Craig Zadan say the contrary? “It’s their job as producers to keep that movie on their front burner, but really, Bryan’s deal with Warner Bros. for the Superman sequel is already done and signed and that’s the priority,” our studio source tells the IESB."

Just thought I would pass this along since it may not get posted on this site.

What so now Time Warner is working on a Justice League film (which already had its first draft script turned in) and another Superman film?

And what’s up with these unnamed sources on that story above what is SR II like a top secret project or something now?

"And what’s up with these unnamed sources on that story above what is SR II like a top secret project or something now?"

You don't know much about the news business do you? Reporters rarely reveal their sources. Just pick up a paper and count how many stories you will read that say according to sources, without saying who they are.

IESB broke the news about Singer getting his deal for the sequel so they obviously have sources either at WB, in Singer's camp or both. I said before it meant a whole lot more that Singer and his SR producers were saying it is Superman after Valkeryie as oppossed to just these Milkman producers saying otherwise.

Anonymous said...

So what now some unnamed sources say in the Singerman camp claim Singerman II is a go and asserts that the only reason the producers of Milkman would say otherwise is because they wanna keep their project on the front burner?
How about the only reason the unnamed sources would say Singerman is a go is to also keep THEIR Singerman project on the front burner burner also.
This is also in contrary to Variety report about a possible Justice League film on its way.
The second Singerman film situation like the first film is a mess.

I said before it meant a whole lot more that Singer and his SR producers were saying it is Superman after Valkeryie as oppossed to just these Milkman producers saying otherwise.

It never ceases to amaze me how far IESB is up Singer's ass. They must have a lovely view of his colon. I'm sorry but they lost any credibility and impartiality as a "news source" when they started openly bashing people who dared dislike Singerman and saying "fuck the fanboys" to Routh. I put as much stock in their news as I do in what shows up on Dark Horizons.

S.S.S. said...

First off, this article wont be posted here unless another more reliable source confirms it on their own. I dont trust IESB and as a source for anything more than a humorous look at a website that's so desperate to be relevant to the studios, they've made a complete joke of themselves. (see the last Routh interview I linked in this article.) They're literally one step away from being Bluetights.net.

That being said, something with IESB's "report" doesn't jive, besides the fact that they're a bunch of unprofessional hacks that is.

Singerman II doesnt even have an approved script at this point, so why would Singer and producers be working on a film that WB hasnt given the go ahead on yet? It's still in the writing stage.

And United Artists is the studio paying Singer and Co to be over in Germany to film Valyrie, which BTW is like an 18 hour a day project. When would they have the time to do this? And why would they be working on a film for WB while they were there? You usually dont work on one studio's film when you're on location filming another studio's project. Seeing as though they cant use one of the main locations they had planned, that production is already behind the 8 ball as is. I'd be amazed if Singer is doing more than answering emails from his writers about movie ideas.

The other thing that amuses me about this, is that the Singerman producers say the Milk producers are just saying that their film is next to keep their project in the public eye, and that their film is really next in line. Well, why wouldnt they be doing the exact same thing? Singer is just as signed on for a Singerman sequel as he is for the Mayor of Castro Street. They're both WB projects, so the studio can order them anyway it likes if he's under contract to do both.

Anonymous said...

^^

SSS first off did IESB break the news first about Singer's deal for the sequel? Yes they did. They do have sources either in Singers circle or at WB there is no doubt of that otherwise they would not have been first on that story. Secondly if Singer and his SR producers many of which are with him on this project are saying Superman is next, that means more than just these producers on their own saying they are next. The studio can order Singer to do whatever they want, he does not have to obey. If he tells them he is doing Superman next, then they will have to find a new director. Singer was suppossed to direct Logan's Run for like 2 years. Eventually the studio decided to find a new director as Singer kept putting it off. X3 same thing he was suppossed to do it and then pulled out at the last minute.

Never ceases to amaze me that you guys will immediately disregard this story, but will jump all over something another blogger posts. I posted that on here, because it has as much relevance as the other story.

IESB obviously has someone in Singer's camp who is right now saying that the sequel is their next priority. They've broken news before. Are they biased? Probably, but that doesn't change the fact that they are reporting what someone from the inside is telling them. If the producers of Milkman can come out and say what they did, whey can't the SR guys respond.

Oh and it is entirely possible to devote some time to the sequel while Singer is prepping Valkyrie. He said they are working on things right now, which means he is probably talking about the script.

You just screwed yourself because by that very logic Transformers is better than Begins and so is Returns since they made more money. So while we are at it lets throw out inflation and say that Transformers is better than Superman the movie and Superman 2, how about both Godfather movies is it better than that as well. You guys are really off the reservation.

Since you mention it, I wonder that Bay could've made a pseudo-sequel to Donner's Superman film and accomplished it in a way that wouldn't make fans want to jump off a building and, oh yeah, might've turned a profit. It might not have been the Superman movie we were all hoping for, but at least it wouldn't have made us hang our heads in shame.

re: Transformers. Take note, Singer.

I’m sure a lot of the teenagers that made films like Spiderman, Pirates and Transformers so much money would tell you that all three of those films are better than Superman The movie, Superman 2 or The Godfather--Which I'm pretty most of them haven't seen and don't care too.

Anonymous said...

I think the success of Transformers can mostly be credited to the fact that Michael Bay took a much beloved property and created something visually that people hadn't seen before along with a compelling narrative with very high stakes.

IT also didn’t hurt that he was able to find two hot young leads that actually had chemistry with one another, and remembered that the ladies can also be a huge cash demo and decided to throw some Tyrese and Josh Duhamel.

Singer had the same opportunity with Superman but instead decided to remake STM instead, with the blandest cast he could find.

well guess what, people already have seen a man fly and it doesn’t impress them very much today.

At least not like a man who can swing and stick to walls, or a charismatic pirate with eyeliner and last but not least a giant transforming robot, who by the way was able to emote more emotion than Brandon Routh.

So if a Superman movie is made that caters to that crowd and makes a lot of money that sutomatically means it is a great film. Look at Spiderman 3, the fanboys fucking hate it yet the teens love it and it made a ton of money. A films BO is not always relevant to it's quality. Titanic was 4 hours of soap opera sap and boredom and it is the biggest hit of all time.

First off, please reread my last post or have someone with the reading comprehension level of a 3rd grader read it to you. SHH linking to IESB's story doesnt make IESB's story any more believable. I said and I quote "I'll post that story here when another more reputable and less biased site confirms that news on THEIR OWN." Am I completely doubting it's true? No. Do I believe IESB as far as I can throw them regarding anything related to Singer and Superman Returns? No, not at all. They've shown their hand regarding the movies. I'll buy this news when someone without an agenda and an industry source that doesnt say "horseshit" confirms it.

And I can talk as much "trash" about IESB as I like. I'll call a spade a spade. Big difference between IESB and my blog is, they try to hold themselves out there as some legitimate news source reporting on the sci fi movie industry. My blog is an opinionated fan site. Wow, they broke the news about a high profile director with an existing studio option for a sequel to a high profile movie, getting it picked up to develop a sequel. Earth-shattering scoop there on their part. You know tabloid rags broke the Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston breakup for Angelina Jolie news. Umm that's not what I said at all. I said, and I'll make it kindergarten clear for you, THIS IS A BLOG. Blog's are an online summary of someone's opinion on a subject. If I dislike something and want to say "Singer raped Superman's corpse," than I can do so since this site is about the 3 people who run it's opinions.
Now let's compare that to running a "news site," one that very desperately wants acceptance into the mainstream online news media. If I write for that site and swear at Hollywood actors in interviews and call online fans "fuck sticks" in an article because they dislike, that's just a tad bit different, no? Do you talk the same way with your friends when your hanging out and drinking a few beers as you do when your at work in a business meeting? It's the same principle of formality.

If that was remotely true you would not call them FAGS, nice try. Do you have have black friends you call niggers you stupid fuck?

I love how people say SR was gay. It is about Superman and Lois and they have a child. Did i miss the part where Superman is trying to hook up with Richard? You guys are clueless.

No I call them Russell and Stewart.

You I call "ladyboy"

Now back to your comics!

Congrats. There's some naive people on here, but you take the biscuit.

When your balls drop it might be clearer to you

More like Bigot and ignorant, you have got both of those down in spades. Hey i got black friends and gay friends and i call them FAGS and NIGGERS all the time, who the fuck are you trying to kid?? Talk about SR as a film all you want but leave this other nonsense out of it, it has nothing to do with the film.

Another thing i agree with nothing that SSS has to say but i know this much, he did not start this BLOG to serve as a breeding ground for GAY bashers. It is supposed to be about Singer's version of Superman not about his personal lifestyle.

A great man once said.."...you knows what funny about people like you, It’s that you’re so insecure about your love for Singerman cock that you have to come back day after day to a blog dedicated to hating SR to try and convince everyone and yourself that another film is on its way"

Superman Returns was gay. A constant criticism. You don't like it here, you fuck off. Singer's homosexuality which influenced the movie is a figure of fun around here. Again, fuck off

Anonymous said...

Do let me make a couple of things perfectly clear though.

There's nothing wrong with being a homosexual, as long as it's not compulsory

The term "ladyboy" I pinched from AP

I tell you, those fags get up in arms around here!!

You have got to be fucking kidding me asshole, based on what? Superman is in love with Lois and they have a CHILD you idiot. What is gay about him, the fact that he is not fighting a supervillain and is lifting a heavy rock at the end? You are a fucking moron if you see anything gay aboout SR. He comes back to earth, is still in love with Lois and they have a child together that is all there is my man. I dare you in any intelligent way to tell me how SR was gay. If you tell me it is because he was not punching anyone then i will be laughing myself to sleep.

"I dare you in any intelligent way to tell me how SR was gay"

Why is it up to me when it has been remarked upon for so long. Look at some of the imagery for a start, and secondly LOOK IT UP YOURSELF ladyboy. There's plenty to read about the fag overtones in SR. There's plenty of links on the right hand side of this very webpage you dumbass.

Typical, no fuckin idea. Thinks I'm the only person who thinks SR was gay when in fact he must be one of the very few who thinks it isn't!!

Fuckin priceless

I'd like to nominate this as the most naive thing ever said about a movie.

Superman Returns is a Gay ANALogy

SSS what will you do if the sequel is a go? Are you going to continue your slander campaign against Singer or since you say you are a Superman fan at least give him a chance with the sequel before you rant on with your immaturity and fanboy panic attacks.

last time I checked, slander was the malicious speaking of untruths against someone. Considering SSS isnt "speaking" anything, and hasnt taken any shots at Singer other than saying he made an awful movie, I dont you have a case for slander. It's funny how people project what's said in the comments on to SSS. I challenge you to find one article on this site where he talks negatively about Singer in regards to anything outside of the movie.

As for your other question, I think most of us here agree that there is no giving a sequel with Singer a chance. Most of the first film's problems are engrained in it's continuity, and they'll all rear their ugly heads in the sequel. Unless of course they just 'forget" about those issues from the first film, which would make it an even bigger joke.

Ok..I gotta admit...That was funny!

Honestly though, I'm not sure the studio would be all that concerned with the fanboys. They'll fix the suit, add some action and maybe give the kid a limited role, but other than that, it's kind of a no win situation with us. All they can do is make it look like they care (which studio's are very good at).

Look at Transformers..you think the arguments we get into are bad, you should see the arguments between Transformer fans (especially G1 fans) about this movie. But all the complaints about how they look and Optimus having flames didn't mean jack shit to the movies box office.

That's the lesson the studio's will take out of the movie. Concede on certain things (Peter Cullen voicing Optimus) but do what you want to make money.

Those that hated SR may not give it a chance, but the general movie going public will if the trailers give them reason to.

"Those that hated SR may not give it a chance, but the general movie going public will if the trailers give them reason to."

Yeah, 'cause that thinking already worked so well the last time ... *rofl*

Face it: Singerman is an entity the public didn't asked for and sure as hell don't want a sequel to!

Singer made the expensive fanfilm he always wanted to do, Lois and Richad parent the next Superman and old Superman flies off into space in the end (looking dumb into the camera one last time) ... End of Story!

All of the sequel plots the fans and haters are discussing online are totally irrelevant to SR. There where ZERO setups for a direct sequel, only a bunch of final endings for storylines that should've already happended in the 80s.

Now that the Chris Reeve fans are satisfied, it's time to show a Superman for this generation!
One who acts normal as Clark and like a cocky MAN when he's in tights and has to fight intelligent enemies. Oh, and maybe a sexy and sassy Lois on the side too ...
