Writers Out, Singer to Follow?

Women and children first.

Well news comes today via Variety that Bryan Singer's hand-picked cronies and partners in crime, Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris, won't be returning to write any alleged Singerman sequel. As a result, WB is now "allegedly" taking pitches from anyone who might possibly be able to save this disaster.

Of course the article claims that the two are leaving to "pursue more directing gigs." But in reality its more like they were "asked" to leave because A) the crew to Singer's film is slowly being let go as WB pushes forward with JLA, or B) they just weren't able to bring the goods when they pitched a sequel.

How can I make such a claim? Well, if you go back to those glamorous Saturn Awards in May, both of these guys went on record about their plans for the sequel and how they were working on it "right now." Then in August, some guy from BlueTights ran into Dougherty in Washington D.C. at which point he told him that the sequel was actually being written and also that there would be even 2 villains, so obviously these guys did some form of mapping or scripting a sequel film, and Singer was intent on using them for it. Put this together with the fact that WB is accepting sequel pitches, and there you have your answer that either the sequel pitches thing is bullcrap to avoid making a complete cancellation announcement or that what these guys planned on doing was completely rejected by the studio to the point where they told them that they wanted to head in a new direction (like a reboot, hopefully).

Why do we think Singer might soon follow? Other than the rumored Harvey Milk film and the fact that the more JLA news we get the less likely a sequel is looking anyway? Well, although some would like to chalk this up to wishful thinking on our part, this is a legitimate inference from Harris and Dougherty leaving. These guys are good friends with Singer and were brought over from the X-Men franchise specifically for this project because they're in his inner circle. These are "his guys." WB getting rid of them, sorry them "leaving," takes Singer out of his comfort zone, and likely forces him to work with a writing team that the studio is going to appoint, if you believe the news about the open solicitations for scripts. Does anyone think that's something Singer and his ego are going to acquiesce to? Despite what some company mouthpieces are telling some of the shill sites, this is a legitimate possibility and somehow I don't see this captain going down with his ship.

Should be interesting from here on out to hear who starts moving on to other projects.

It will take a film of "Singerman-proportions" for JL to crash and burn. But unless the cast is PERFECT, making people wait is going to get UGLY.

How ugly? "superfag95"'s MOTHER ugly.

Hey Sepharih, did you ever finish that Singerman edit you were working on?

"It will take a film of "Singerman-proportions" for JL to crash and burn. But unless the cast is PERFECT, making people wait is going to get UGLY."

I was referring more to the potential fan backlash than the actual project itself though. What I mean is, with the way they're going about this, the cast has got to be almost perfect. There's no "well...maybe he'll grow on me" in a situation like this. They'd better get it right.

"Hey Sepharih, did you ever finish that Singerman edit you were working on?"

I was getting pretty close, and then I suffered a total system crash. Luckily I had all the assets and project files stored on a separate drive so they were completely unaffected, but then I had to start from reinstalling software, codecs, etc. to get back to work. Then, right when I was about to get back into it, my monitor failed on me.
Pretty much everything that's left is completely visual FX related, and I don't want to use this crappy cheap backup monitor to judge whether or not a shot is good. So I have to wait about two weeks at least for viewsonic to give me my new one. So yeah, a few minor setbacks, but it is coming along.

If Tom Welling is not on JLA's cast then the movie might aswell just not happen because it will flop!

I say this Miller JLA film will most likely make back its production cost like other comic book films such as Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider and Daredevil, but WB should not be expecting Spiderman like profit margins from this project.

Action figure wise The JLA film probably won't even be able to sell as many action figures as say Transformers.

When did apologists hijack this site?

Which ones the Singerman ones or the JLA ones?

Newest JLA cast rumors from Superhero Hype:

Superman - D.J. Cotrona
Batman - Armie Hammer
Wally West/The Flash - Anton Yelchin
Aquaman - Santiago Cabrera
Iris - Zoe Kazan
Wonder Woman - Megan Gale
Talia al Ghul - Teresa Palmer
Green Lantern - Common
^^^
LOL at this cast, this movie is going to blow! Please Sony And Fox put Spiderman 4 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine out in 2009 a week before and after Miller's JLA film and end this film so Time Warner will have to once again reboot two years after the fact.

That cast is bullshit.

I mean the cast list is bullshit...don't believe it.

So guys do you think there's any chance that Welling and Reyonlds will be in this JLA film?

"Welling and Reyonlds"
Apparently Barry and Wally are both in the movie. I've always been able to picture Reynolds as Barry a helluva lot easier than Wally... and as we've heard nothing about Barry, well, there may yet be hope.

As for Welling... there never was much hope. Only a fool's hope. Seriously, I wouldn't hold your breath at this point. It kinda sucks too since Smallville hasn't been this good since the third season.

"So guys do you think there's any chance that Welling and Reynolds will be in this JLA film?"

I wish, but probably not. Maybe there's some doubts as to whether Welling ever really truly wanted the part of Superman. It's been conjectured that after his experience with Christopher Reeve passing the torch that it changed how he felt about playing the character in a positive way. WB would be wise to capitalize on Welling's popularity & stop their ridiculous politics. He would add at least a little star power to JLA, but no, WB & DC, along with Goof & Mild , will not allow it, so go hire someone who's even less like Supes than 'BJ.' Great move WB! Morons!

As for Ryan Reynolds, hasn't he expressed an interest in Flash, like, forever & a day? Yet WB seem to be ignoring him for some reason. I know, go get some moron to play Flash that no one's ever heard of. He can be added to the list with BJ. It looks like WB is just about BS.

Unemployment rate rankings, from lowest to highest:

% Year
#55 United States 4.80 2006 est.

#101 France 8.70 2006 est.

Looks like France's rate is almost DOUBLE the GREATEST nation on Earth! On top of this, France has an OFFICIAL full-time work week of 35 HOURS! 35! Not only that, these smelly, lazy assholes take up to 8 WEEKS of vacation.

Yes, "superfag95", I have ONCE AGAIN shown how fucking REtarded you are. I'm going to kick your fat ass mother's last tooth out tonight, just because I hate you.

Supposedly, JLA will exist in a universe unto itself, independent of other DC franchises.

Ergo, the Nolan bat franchise will continue unaffected (assuming Nolan can get over his ego at WB's "gall" to make another Batman movie independent of him) and whatever ends up taking Singerman's place will be likewise unaffected.

That could potentially be good news for Welling/Smallville fans. *WHEN* the Superman rebooted, Welling would be a strong contender to lead the franchise. He's got a built in fanbase and I, for one, would much sooner see Welling headlining a solo Superman film than a JLA film. If that "independent universes" thing is true, it could be great news for us that Welling may not be in the running for JLA anymore. Hell, it could even explain *why* he's not.

Geeze I can't type. I wrote "the Superman rebooted". Should've been "*WHEN* the Superman films are rebooted..."
